Daemonicus, why would you post a picture of a 4-cylinder Accord with the small rims?

Someone needs to post a picture of the 03 CL6 6MT with the 17" rims and an 06 Accord 6MT with the SAME 17" rims (because Honda reused them).

My personal opinion is that the 06 Accord looks slightly better (and is slightly faster and better on gas) but is slightly less luxurious inside.

I always thought the CL-S was a bit more purpose built (LSD, bolstered seats, driver oriented console, etc) than the Accord, but in the end the Accord was cheaper and easier to find, so I went with it.

They don't look so bad with a drop and the HFP kit. For reference, here's mine:

Looks like a Civic.

I would rather have a CL-S6 ANY DAY over a 6MT Accord coupe but I do think the Accord in the 06+ trim is a better looking car.

Still, I think the 2G CL is a very good looking car, and even more so in the 03 trim. I used to not be able to get over that strange angle along the trunklid but it grew on me.

I think I'm just jealous that they never offered a 2G TL6 w/ LSD.

i'd take a CLS6 too. and I didn't like the stock spoiler on the CLS either. The lip spoilers look good though. But I think the CLS has the more aggresive lines, but since the day it came out, i've always loved the way they looked.

I didn't like the accord at first. I thought the proportions were weird, especially on the front end. I guess it grew on me a little bit, but I still never really liked the headlights, or the hood. It always looked too round for me. And the headlights looked to far apart, making the grill too wide. And hood sloped down too much, making the grill area start really low. But like I said, I got used to it after a little while, and I dont' think it's ugly at all. I just remember seeing one on the road for the first time, and being like . White accord coupes have always been a chick car too.

One other thing I like about the CLS is the exclusivity. You don't see that many on the road...

If I had to do it all over TODAY, and was looking for a FWD coupe, the Accord would be at the top of my list...

BUT when I was shopping back in Oct 2002, the 2002 AV6's were automatics (got one leftover down to 1700 below invoice), and the 6mt coupes weren't due till feb 03 (with reports of markups OVER MSRP).

I prefer the looks of the CL-S over the Accord but looks are subjective so how the hell can you people be arguing about what looks better?

It's a damn "catch 22"... they didn't make many, so it's kinda rare to see one on the road, but since they didn't sell many, they discontinued it

I still blame Acura's marketing department over the failure, and I'm still bitter about it

I fail to see the resemblance.

Just because one of the posters in this thread started insulting CLs doesn't mean that my car needs to be insulted.

I asked around and my friends all said the same thing about the accord "dude that car looks so asian" and about the cl "woah that car is Honda? It's not ricey at all" but back to the heart of the matter... can we swap some of those engine parts that gave the J30A6 the boost from the A1 to our J32s and get some type of HP gain or what??

He's kinda right, back in the day you could spot an accord from a civic a mile away, nowadays you gotta look closer to see if it's a Civic or an Accord matter in fact the family accross the street owns both coupes I'll take pics and just maybe there is some truth to that...

Big effin if it was all about straight line speed we would all be driving circa 1985 Mustang GT's... there is so much more to a good car then going fast in a straight line.

Styling is so subjective its hard to say what's right and what's wrong - there are tons of great looking cars that I don't like and more then a few swamp donkeys that I like. The joys of being human, we are all different and like different things, can you imagine!

Just imagine if they still made a CL on the TL platform, and like the previous gen TL/CL the CL was a bit edgier then the TL, this conversation would not be happening. But the powers that be prevented that from happening. To me the bottom line is that they are all good cars, its just a matter of what's best to you. Its not like anyone is defending a Chevrolet Corisca compared to the Beretta!

There are actually more performance upgrades for the CL-S than the Accord. The header choices are way better, plus from what I understand Comptech made a B-pipe for the CLs. There's also the supercharger.

For relatively stock CLs, I'm pretty sure that I can hang with them. Once the big mods come in (headers, supercharger), that gets scary.

I'm not quite sure what they did to the J30 between its A1 version and A4, but it's amazing how much better of an engine the A4 is. My 3.0CL didn't have much power and God did it suck down the gas.

Anyways, to get back to the whole point of this thread, yes the Accord is a good challenge for a CL, but the mods on the CL outnumber the ones on the Accord and probably will put it on top of the Accord in a straight line race.

There is no such thing. The J30A5 is the latest iteration of the J30 line. Unless of course you were making a joke, then I'm dumb.

EDIT: It doesn't look like you were making a joke as you made a previous reference to it. And those 2 suggest it's not a typo. Just trying to clear up some confusion. The J30A5 (2006-2007) has exhaust and intake upgrades from the J30A4 (2005).

yah sorry youngTL, it was a typo, and thanks EPS for that tid-bit, the Accord ('05 EX 6spd w/ 48K miles no nav tho :[ ) was looking a bit more attractive because it was 3K$ cheaper than the than the CL ('03 6spd w/ nav 58k miles) but now I know that 3K$ i will spend will be money well spent.... (sigh... still another $7K to save up for).
