Thumbs down Accident on Halloween

I know it's not an acura.. but i get on here all the time cause i have a TSX... but here's the damage from halloween afternoon... some guy was airing up a spare (regular size) tire on the ground and it busted while i was inside the gas station... (lucky me, i usually wait for the air hose)... this guy had a broken/twisted arm and broken legs... didnt take pics of the guy though cause i didnt wanna be a jerk... but he did fly really high and landed after the tire hit the ground.. and after the ambulance came... there was some chips of broken bones on the ground...

What did the damage to your car, did the air hose end smash your car?

Holy hell @ the story ..

Well, if it's any consolation, I suffered the same fate, although a day earlier. Woman had a seizure and rolled into me.

Lost part of his leg? Holy shit. Glad you were not out there.

Did he over inflate or was it just a shitty tire?

I've always had this type of fear when filling up a tire. It's never happened to me, and I've never heard of it happening to anyone. (till now) Glad to know I'm not crazy to be concerned about it.

Same. Whenever I air up my tires I know how much psi to set it to but still have this little feeling in the back of my mind 'WHAT IF somehow the tire explodes' - I always thought the wheel and tire shards could fuck you up, even kill you... looks like I am right

I hope that guy gets better. Btw, what swervin said... did he overinflate or just a shitty tire? If you know that...

Same here. I wouldn't call it a fear... but it was something in the back of my head to the point where I would not position myself directly in front of the tire. Luckily I always bring a PSI gauge with me, and the air compressor has one as well... so I have an idea of how much PSI is in the tire. Still, if the tire is faulty in some way.... you never know!

me too.

i remember a couple of years ago i was at a tire shop and the guy working there was telling me about a teenager that used to work there. he said the kid was filling a tire with air and it exploded and blew both his hands off.

So the tire exploded due to overinflation ?
If that was the case...operator error.
He would probably be liable and not the gas station.

Hope he's ok and u get your car fixed.
