99 tl w/mods vs. 05 altima 3.5 AT

I have headers & K&N filter, going to get UR crank pulley done soon. With the crank pulley do you think I can take the altima. A friend at work drives one and I know they are pretty fast.

same thing...btw, you're gonna get burnt to hell

I raced a 3.5SE stick and I've got I/H and I beat him by a couple lengths, not much. They're pretty damn quick. BTW he had heavy ass wheels on his ride.

you cant top him. a 99TL with headers, pulleys, intake, exhaust (my setup), still wont have a chance. we're pushing 225 at stock, while the 3.5SE altimas are pushing 260hp (i believe)? even so, they are alot lighter than our cars, and you got 2 12inch subs sitting back there. torque on our cars doesnt help either. sorry man, better step back from that race.

The 05 Alti 3.5SE/SL makes 250hp (the Alti SE-R makes '260hp'). That said, I also think you'll get beat but not as bad as others think.

I had a 99 TL with Intake, Headers, Full Cat back 2.5 inch exhaust, NGK plugs, Type S Throttle Body, Injen Cold Air Intake, UR Pulley and more. I raced an Altima from a dig and from a roll. From a dig he out tourqed the hell out of me. He had me by a few car lengths till 60. From a roll, i forget the MPH, i was at the top of second though; he still beat me by about a car. He was an auto also. Those cars just make hp and tq throughout the entire rev range. The have very flat power curves.

That's reason I never tire of driving my 02 Maxima....it's never at a lose for power.

damn, I guess I am SOL, 250HP for AT altima and no chance for TL w/mods, that sucks. I bet with CT SC I could smoke him, but I don't have the coin for that upgrade.

CT SC should easily do the trick but, it's your dime. But run him anyway and see what happens. (A few years ago, I took down an 02 Alti 3.5SE 4AT with an 00 TL-P I was renting at the time....so anything's possible)

there are also a few that have left the factory w/ basically the Z and G35 motors w/o the detune. I read a few threads of guys dynoing 240ish STOCK!!

I wish that was the case with my 02 Maxima. But, I havent heard of any stock Altima 3.5SE or VQ35 Maxima dynoing @ ~240whp (although I suspect that the Alti SE-R may be close to that. )

While the Altima-based FFL cars (Maxima, Altima, Murano, Quest) are equipped with a weaker version of the VQ35DE and are built stateside (exc. Murano) the G35-based FM cars (G35, 350Z, FX35, M35) with the more powerful VQ35DE version are all built in Japan. So, it's unlikey that the FM VQ35s will wind up in any FFL with the very off chance exception being the Murano (which is built in Japan).
