8 series BMW?
8 series BMW?
I went out to eat tonight, as i was leaving this car caught my eye and when i looked closer i saw it had a BMW emblem but it looked like no BMW i have ever seen. I told my date i had to go check it out...we walked over to it and i about died.
the first thing i did was walk to the back to see what kind it was and it said 840...i just looked at him and my mouth dropped open. A freakin 8 series bimmer!!!
It had a drop on it, with 19" Hamann HM2's ...tight as hell
didnt even know they made an 8 series....

Well technically the one she saw (840) is a V8. The 850 is the V12. Not sure if thats what you meant.
And I still like the way they look, someone at my work has a nice one.

Back in the mid 90’s, the owner of the company I used to work for had one.
V-12, manual Tranny, Custom Borla exhaust.
He had lots of work done under the hood too.
I left quite a lot of drool on it the 5-years I worked there.

theres a phat 850CSI around here white with white 19s, there are a bunch of 850s that are in absolutley PERFECT condition around here, and theres a custom 840 convertible thats pretty sweet too, those cars are awesome!
those cars are aaaamazing i love them. one of my best friends from h.s. has a dark grey/charcoal 850i w/ 18s. that thing just hauls ass... gotta love the v12. i even learned how to drive stick on that thing!! :wackit: ooh man it was so sweet. only thing that sucks is its a bitch to maintain if you need parts or anything cuz bmw obviously doesnt make them anymore. he doesnt drive it as often anymore cuz he has a MINI Cooper S too but its beastly and in pristine condition.

Don't bother with them now as they are extremely expensive to maintain.

Oh and by the way, this particular BMW was a complete and utter failure. The V12 never ran right and a friend had one. He said it always felt like you were being pulled by the engine. Beautiful looking though, I must admit. The fact that most have no seen it proves my point of not being a great seller. Plus it was expensive as all hell.

I agree... The car is sweet. For being over a decade old, it still stands up well. IIRC, the 8 series also had some serious electrical and computer demons which also add to it being a rare sight in the wild.

Yeah my friend's dad had a limited edition Black 850CSI. His dad is pretty rich by the way. Well his dad bought a XJ8 and gave the CSI to his son, my friend. Well soon enough he wrecked it. By the way this kid was like 17 then. This only happened a couple years back. I didn't get to ride in it but my friends did and they can agree that V-12 was monstrous.
I remember the first time I saw one . . I was driving down the highway and saw it sitting on the dealers lot. I about killed myself trying make a qucik exit and circled back.
Beautiful was all I could say. The lines on that car where it for me. I went home and got my camera to take a picture for me to drool over at home. :P
Too bad they were so expensive . .
I wonder if you could do an engine swap to say an 350 out of a Vet or z28? Remember all those people who swapped out their Jag engines because they sucked.
Other than reliability, performance was a bit under par for a car with a V12.

What pisses me off is I work in the North Shore area of Chicago, and it is one of the five richest congressional districts in the country. Across the street is a high school, and I see high school kids driving these things to school, and the ink on their license probably isn't even dry. Throw in a boxter or two, and the occasional lotus. I tell ya, it ain't fair!
