8,000 HP gone wrong

Tony Pedregon's funny car explosion from this weekend's NHRA Winternationals. He suffered some second degree burns on his right hand and minor burns on his left, but that was it.

The car blew up and yet not only did he somehow make it across the finish line, he almost won! Some would call that dedication, others would call it stupid.

I really wish you gentlemen wouldn't make jokes or light of this incident. These men take these kinds of things very serious, believe me. I have seen quite a few accidents and blowups and one man killed at local drag strips even though it is a safe sport.

Just be thankful he made it out Ok.

the whole time watching that video i was thinking of john madden....and the guy that impersonates him. If these announcers use to drag race they should be more serious and not talking BS about .."o look how far the rear tires came up"

The Youtube clip was from the replay portion of the telecast. Pedregon had already been shown getting out of the car and walking away under his own power. Talking about the tires coming off they ground is relevant to how big the engine explosion was and how good a job he did controlling the car. Not BS.
