50 Cent gets first Charger

well...its loox like 50 is trying to pull the same deal he did with the Chrysler 300 Bentley cop. What is it with Chrysler hooking all the rappers up. It must be great advertising or something.

Also, I have heard there is a big fuss over the Charger being four doors. Is this true?

50 Cent's Charger Charge
AUBURN HILLS, MI-January 18, 2005 — It appears rapper 50 Cent gets what he wants.

DaimlerChrysler says it's rushing production on its 2006 Dodge Charger to make sure the hip-hop star gets the first one.

The update of the classic muscle car doesn't go on sale until the spring but 50 Cent says he can't wait that long.

The Detroit News reports he told an industry magazine that, "I need to know what I gotta do to get that Dodge Charger first."

The same situation played out last year when the automaker made a special delivery of its Chrysler 300 for rapper Snoop Dogg.

The company says the connections are "worth more money than any advertising you could do in the marketplace."

Saw and sat in the Charger at the Detroit auto show.. Definitely not terribly impressive. Seems like the rappers are lowering their standards.. What about the Bentleys and Maybach's?

Wow.. You are WAY off on this one.

Dodge is owned by Daimler-Chrysler (basically Mercedes Benz).

Bentley is now owned by VW. No relation whatsoever between Bentley and Dodge/Chrysler.

Yes, the Charger uses a few bits and pieces from MB (suspension components from the previous E-Class), but it's FAR from a MB or any other premium brand.

I sat in one and it screams economy sedan. The Hemi and RWD are nice, but that's about all it has going for it.

Huh?!

Chrsyler is not owned by Bentley... it might 'owe' design cues to Bentleys...

Bentley is a under VW control... DaimlerChrysler has nothing to do with Bentleys.

Man, 50 must be broke wantin' the Charger.

Chrysler is definitely NOT owned by Bentley. Are you high? Chrysler is owner by Daimler-Benz. They may also own Bentley, I would have to look it up but I don't doubt that it may be (Edit: Bentley owned by VW) , but they certainly are not owned by Bentley. You should slap whoever told you that.

Sad that none of the British nameplates are owned by Brits...

BTW, I think WHITE3.2TL-S is owned by mis-statement

Majority is under Ford's control for both makers.

I believe Lotus is also owned by Proton, a Philipino auto maker.

I think Rover was the last brand, until it went to a foreign owner.

I think in the auto industry, "owning" and having a "controlling stake" are two different things. But I'm not sure if Ford "owns" AM, or if it just has a controlling stake in the company, like it does with Mazda.

I still have to post pics of the Aston Martin we just bought. It is pretty much in horrible condition. The original one that Bond drove. Silver. Completely shitty condition. I think my dad and his partner and rebuilding it.

Anyhow, I bring that up because I now know what DB stands for.

The Aston Martin's creator "David Brown" it says it on the badge on the hood.

There's a lot of woodwork in those, I think... at least in the interior.

How's the body and frame?

Man, that's gotta be one hella project.

I helped with restoring a BMW Bavaria (sweet ride, BTW), Scirocco, and a Alfa Spider. Alfa restore teh suxorz... man, are those a pain to work on. Bavaria gave us trouble in terms of interior cloth accents.

Scirocco was too easy.

Dude, the body is hella clean... no rust, I assume?

Without working on body and frame, the only thing that might cause trouble is trannie and/or engine. I wonder what a brit engine of yesteryears are like.

Congrats, looks like a fun project. If you need body work done, paint or interior wood/cloth work, call me up

owns auto repair and auto body shops.

I don't know much about his fields...but I want to eventually do a car over with him. When I get back home in the spring I will post updated pics of everything.

It's never too late...

Brandon's dad taught me all kinds of crap when we hung out at the shop... that and the fact that he let us smoke and drink in the garage when we were in HS.

I'm not hatin', I've probably put a good couple thousand miles on my fathers Lac. It is extremely comfortable and handles very well for such a large SUV. Probably one of the best full sized SUVz out there IMO. But, they are just played out, I mean everyone and there mom has one.
