350Z Comparison between Touring & Performance pkgs.
it appears these 2 packages are the most popular ones, but im sure a lot of u guys want the Track package since yer so hardcore and if yer confused about what packages have what like i am when i read them listed on the Nissan site, this comparison makes it so easy!!
all i basically did was create 2 Word files and lined them up side-by-side and used the highlighter to show similarities
everything is identicle on both packages except for these following items:
Touring has the following over Performance:
1. 17" x 7.5" 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels (18" x 8" 6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels standard with 6-speed manual transmission)
2. P225/50WR17 front & P235/50WR17 rear high performance tires (225/45WR18 tires standard with 6-speed manual transmission)
3. BoseŽ 240-Watt audio system w/ in-dash 6-disc CD changer, AM/FM stereo and cassette player, with 7 speakers
4. Leather-appointed seats
5. Power 4-way driver's seat
6. Power 2-way passenger seat
7. Heated seats
8. Heated mirrors
Performance has the following over Touring:
1. Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)
2. 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission
3. 18" x 7.5" (front) / 8.0" (rear) 6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels
4. 225/45WR18 front & P245/45WR18 rear high performance tires
5. 160-Watt AM/FM/CD w/6 speakers
6. 6-way manual adjustable driver's seat
7. Tire air pressure monitor
NOTE: check out the differences in wheel sizes in the 6-speed option on the Touring when u compare it to Performance...it's 18x8 all around with 225/45WR18's on the Touring vs. 18x7.5 front 18x8 back with 225/45WR18 front & P245/45WR18 rear's...isn't that weird??? in addition, the Track package has the same tires on the Performance package but has different rim specs (18x8 front and 18x8.5 back)...so if u were to compare all packages on just wheels & tires, u'd have 4 wheel combos juggling 3 sets of tire combos...VERY confusing
1. P225/50WR17 front & P235/50WR17 rear
2. 225/45WR18 tires all around
3. 225/45WR18 front & P245/45WR18 rear
1. 17" x 7.5" 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels
2. 18" x 8" 6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels
3. 18" x 7.5" (front) / 8.0" (rear) 6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels
4. 18" x 8.0" (front) / 8.5" (rear) 6-spoke super light forged-aluminum alloy wheels by Rays

It's an interesting styling design, but, well...it just doesn't work for me.
And it's really heavy...3300+ pounds...damn, I didn't think you could get a small car to weigh that much.
Sorry Nissan...I'm one car nut, who's not sold on the 350z.

It is very nice, but that front end is as exiciting to look at as Delta Burke, IMO. A sports car should look way more agressive up front.
Interior screams the Ghosen CHEAP, why the huge Tower bar in the rear?
For 28k though, this car is a STEAL!

How is it not inspiring?? The new Z is going to be one hell of a performance bargain once you get some real tests done on the car. I dont know why people say it is heavy. Look at all the other cars in the segment such as the Boxster S, M3, and C5. The Z is right on par at 3247 lbs. People are doing too much reading of magazines and should wait until the car is actually on the market to test drive before passing judgement.

And the 350Z might be one hell of a performer, and at that price should be a bargain, but it still doesn't look too good to me. No matter how a car performs, if I don't like looking at it, I'm not gonna drive it.

Is the Touring Pakage's "6-speed manual transmission" the same as the Performance Pakage's "6-speed close-ratio manual transmission"?
If so, I think I would opt for the Touring package as you get 8" all around and more content. I don't care much about any driving babtsitter (Vehicle Dynamic Control)
