240sx made me laugh

i normally dont race my car, but i would have last night if i didnt have my girlfriend with me at the time. She hates the idea of street racing. A 240sx with fire shooting out of its exaust definately wanted a peice. He was riding my ass at about 50mph untill we hit traffic. He was definately turbocharged as i could here his blowoff valve as he passed me in traffic. He was dangling a Honda emblem from his tow latch...seeing that made me laugh a little as he popped his exaust driving by.

Im still a little nervous to race though because i have gone to court over speed contest tickets, and after paying for a lawyer and beeing on probation for a year, i dont think i ever wanna do that again....

i still wonder what he has in his car, hes on a local street racing message board..

anyone race any modded early 90's 240sx turbo hatchbacks???

If he went through the time and money to do a turbo or SR20DET swap it might run pretty strong. Everyone wants a 240SX now because their pretty light, pretty strong bottom end engines for turbos and RWD, while they used to be cheap to buy used. The fire was him running rich and when his bov released pressure, the unburnt fuel passed through the exhaust.

I want a 240 fastback. I saw one the other day for $500 but it was an automatic, if it was a stick I would of bought it and definately swapped it out. Those suckers are a beast if tuned right.

It would be hard to tell without actually popping the hood. Hell, it could've been a CA18 for all we know.

A friend of mine put down 380 rwhp with his SR20DET, and he upgraded to the Blitz Stage 3 turbo kit, expecting well over 400 RWHP... but he sold it. I did a fair amount of work on that car myself, so it made me sad to see it go.

Oh, yeah, he used to shoot fireballs all the time, too. No cat, and Yashio Factory exhaust. That car sounded amazing especially when the turbo was spooled up. I got a bit too close to him while sitting at a red light, and his muffler melted my front lip kit.

Ahh, good memories with that car, including the time he drifted in front of 3 Sheriff's Deputies and had to hide out in an apartment complex for an hour... I had to go pick his ass up in the middle of the night.

240sxs are nice little RWD bangers, easy for engine swaps and capable of smoking almost any 30grand sports car when tuned right, of course it cuold have been a dumb little rice with a huge exhaust and a stock engine, but if you heard a blowoff valve i think he means business

Man I wish we would have gotten S15's and Nissan sell boosted versions of the S14. Guess they didn't want to take 300ZX sales.

I have no idea but from the looks of it I'm sure it's the K series.

You should have picked it up. Modding the stock motor really wont do much. And if you were planning an sr20det motor swap, you migh as well get the motor with the tranny on it.

i got owned by a 240sx fastback a few days ago in my Z. i know he was running an sr20det engine with an upgraded turbo. he smoked my 350 without even trying. while i was gunning it straight down hitting 80,90,100.. he just kept on pulling on me. by the time i hit 80ish he was already 4, 5 car lengths ahead of me. those things can wreck any cars out there if properly modded. i wouldnt mess with him.

there was a article in sport compact magazine featuring a 13 second 240sx with a sr20det and some other mods....it could smoke STis

wouldnt you have to build up the internals like a muthafucker on a ka24 tho? sr20s can handle lots of power on stock internals

sounds like his car was not tuned/set up right.... those 240's can be BEASTS for relatively little money,.

i have an rps13 w/s15 blacktop, s15 6speed, basic mods. These engines
are what nissan can really do. The US never gets the the good stuff from
Japan. They'll never let me have an R33. I really wanted to go with the sr20de,
but i got a great deal on an s15 front clip

my friend used to have a ka24 turbo setup...from what hetold me, the ka24 can actually handle more power because the engine is a cast iron block versus the sr20 which is an aluminum block...someone correct me if im wrong

Cool thread. Maybe it is time to drop a S/C on my S2k. I hear of a lot with 350ish RWHP. That car with that much power should be able to stay competitive.
