Nope didn't look at the MDX. We did look at the Pilot but it just didn't have the room the Explorer did.
It's only been a month but we are pretty close to that gas mileage.

Bench does not slide. Our friend has captain seats and I'm regretting every bit of it even more now.

When not Hooning i get over 22hwy, closer to 25 with mine (most recent trip was 17 mpg hwy with a 5k lb ski boat behind it cruise set at 75, something the MDX could never pull anywhere near as easily). After a test drive,(where the wife almost immediately said no upon getting in and looking) The Explorer has a lot more passenger room than the MDX, 3rd row is far easier to get into in the explorer and the storage behind the 3rd row is far superior. No it doesnt require premium, but its the only thing i put in it.

1 year update. 24,000 miles and counting.
Wife is on her way to Greensboro, NC to pick up my daughter from camp so more miles to come.
Going in for new tires when she gets back (the OEM Kumhos are shot).
No other issues. Drives great, holds everything we need to haul, plenty of power.
Picked up some kayak racks to shuttle back and forth to the lake.
Maybe a Livernois upgrade soon. Yes Kris you are an enabler.

Nice!

Damn 24k in one year?

I traded mine at 25k and I had it for 3 years. Obviously, I don't drive enough.

2 year update.
48k miles. Still love it.
Multiple trips to beach house and mountain house and 6 round trips to NC for daughter's sports camp. Headed to Penn State next weekend so the miles will keep climbing.

Only issue is bubbling paint on front of hood. Read on Explorerforums it's a known problem so off to the dealer next week.

Considering a 2021 Platinum as a Flex replacement.
My mom has one that just sits in her garage & she drives her 2011 F150 99% of the time.

We're going to try to find a Platinum local today to take a look at/drive, to see if it'll work for us, then chat with my mom about picking hers up.
I'm guessing it's a bit smaller inside (maybe wider though) than the Flex, so we'll see if my wife thinks it's too small.
Her top 2, since we've ruled out the Wagoneer for $$ reasons, are a Suburban or Expedition Max, but if we can get the Exploder for a similar price, get her out of her 140k Flex, then later we can get the Suburban & I'll take the Exp.

Suburban and Expedition are good choices but they are huge.

I'm surprised that a Suburban is cheaper than a Wagoneer...they appear to be about the same price online.
