2010 Shelby GT500?
I'm thinking about trading in the TL for something... I've always loved a great muscle car and the new shelby cobra that puts out 540 horses stock has caught my eye... Anyone have suggestions or thoughts?

I think you must be referring to the Shelby GT500. SVT no longer uses the Cobra moniker on the 197 platform. Regardless, it's a great car. I purchased a 2007 Shelby GT500 and enjoyed it a great deal. Much of what is on the 2010 500 is based on the previous year KR series. The KR was actually built at Shelby's shop, (or a licensed facility) making it more of a proper Shelby than the Ford production GT500.
The additional fourty horsepower is certainly welcome, but more importantly the car received much needed focus to the chassis. Mustangs are inherent understeerers, and the 500 was no exception. The engine utilizes a cast iron block/aluminum head design which puts a substantial amount of weight over the front wheels. Although not as surefooted as the new 2010 GT with factory Track Pack, the new 500 is certainly an improvement over the previous model. A new dual plate clutch, revised transmission ratios, and shorter drive ratio also makes the car more enjoyable to drive.
I'm not sure what you want from a car, but I certainly wouldn't drive a 500 as a daily driver. It rides harshly, is somewhat noisy, and the clutch is still a bear. If 0-60 in about four-and-a-half seconds and quarter mile times of sub thirteen seconds in factory trim is your sort of thing however(it is mine), then the new 500 is a great piece.

I think the 2010 GT500 is the best looking of the hi-po muscle cars.
That's my opinion of course but I sat in a 2010 GT and fell in love with it. I can only imagine what the Shelby is like to drive.

IMO the GT500 is way overpriced for what your getting. I payed 25k for my 04 Cobra. Spent about 10k on reworking the motor and upgrading to a Kennie Bell Twin Screw supercharger and I dyno'd at 796 RWHP. Just recently installed a custom Twin Turbo setup in place of the KB Supercharger. Should be pushing around 1000 after it gets tunned.

Yea I just really like the new body style and history making of the 2010 shelby gt500.. I should be able to get a good deal in the spring when the 2011's come out. Once I get it I'm looking to upgrade the S/C to the ford racing which should output around 605 hp and a steeda power pak which I believe adds another 100 hp If I'm correct. Now I don't know that much about cars but I do love upgrading and modding them. So any help on what to do and what to get would be greatly appreciated..

There are a lot of cars I would choose for $50k. Heck, I'd even buy real estate before spending $50k on a Mustang. If you don't own your own place...now's the time.
That said, if your heart is set on it... wait a little bit then scoop up a pre-owned so some other sucker takes the depreciation hit. You'll get the same car and save a bunch of coin.
