I am trying to stay away from modding but alas I have already found my first mod. In 2010.5 Mazda just stopped producing hatchbacks (S trim) with turn signal mirrors and some interior ambient lighting. They did keep the wiring intact and now for under 300 USD I can add turn signal mirrors that come HEATED from the GT model!! This is the only thing I really wanted from the GT model and because the wiring is still all there; it is literally plug-n-play once I get brand new mirror housings including glass. I just have to add a dead pedal and I am set. Awesome.

Quote: I ended up with none of the above. At the last minute I read a long term review on the 2010 Mazda3 hatchback (non Grand Touring) and decided to take a second look. I have test driven them before (6 speed) but decided to go with the automatic. I picked up a 2011 for a few thousand over the Fit I was going to buy and could not be happier. It's peppy, handles great and has all of the things I wanted and nothing I don't need. I got the Bose/moonroof/6CD package and have been enjoying the car since last weekend. I personally think it's a lot of car for the money and I like the look of the front grill which happens to turn many others off. Thanks for all of the help people and I figured I should finish up the thread with my final decision as many of these threads start but are never finished with a buying decision. Good Luck to all.

Mr. Charliemike here are the pictures for yourself and others to enjoy.

Rubber floormats and cargo tray were added today; just dropped off by UPS man. Cargo net is a 350Z coupe unit that came out of my TSX. : )

Looks nice. I've always liked small hatchbacks.

GTI's are not slow; some say the Jetta 2.5 is but that depends on what you compare it to

Cheers. I really wanted to but after supercharging my TSX and having a few glitches here and there (pretty minor but they caused me anxiety and extra labor costs nonetheless). I also talked myself out the stick by doing a 3rd test drive and not being able to get comfortable with the clutch. Gobs of traffic where I am combined with a finnicky clutch would have gotten to me sooner than later.

Thanks. I took the car on a 250 mile road trip today and it exceeded my expectations on both the highway and in twisty backroads. Great all around performer. Averaged a smig over 28 mpg and the car is not even close to being broken in.

This thread is waaaaayyyyyy old and I know no one cares at this point but I did eventually buy a Mazdaspeed3 to sit alongside my regular 3. Both are Liquid Silver Metallic which makes people laugh because to the uneducated "they are the same car." I bought a used 2012 MS3 with 29000 miles on it. Adult driven, super clean, it does not appear to have been modded ever and I think I got a good price. It has already taken me on a few great road trip and is a BEAST on the road. Keeping your speed down is the only issue. Talk about a thread revival/update. LOL

Congrats, man!

I loved mine when I had it!

Oh yes, be careful with it. It gets up to a dangerous speed pretty quick. haha

Had a Celestial Blue MS3. Best (family) car I ever had. Made the biggest mistake trading it in at 50K miles on a hybrid

Miss that car

Congrats! I had a Speed6. Great car minus the smokey turbo in mine. I do miss the 6 speed manual. It was a great car but I have no regrets with the Charger when I mash the go pedal.

Nice. I don't see them much on the road at all. Those are RX8 wheels? Are the tails OEM? Love the integrated tail pipes, gorgeous.

Funny enough I saw another red one like mine in my town, but rarely any others. Yep they were powder coated RX8 wheels and stock tails. I still do love the way the Speed6s look. And it handled amazing well right from the factory. I just didn't love the issues with the turbo and not so great MPG even though it was a 4 banger. Everything else about the car was great.

BTW love the blue on your old MS3. Rarely saw them in that color. I always saw white, black and red ones.

Yeah I have read about the MS3 gen 1 issues. I sold mine at 50k, and didn't have any. So not sure if Genpu MS3 has issues or its just higher mileage.

MS6 looks great. I am just not much of a sedan guy (wagon/hatch rather).

The couple of MS6 I have seen on the west coast are all that dark grey color. I see a few True Red MS3 (gen 1) and those look fantastic. That red really pops.
