I wish they had it with a 6MT ... I'd be a car I'd want to move up to.

Without it, I doubt I'll ever own one.

Yes, let's do it! It should look awesome with two white Avants.

Yeah, its true that wagons are not popular in the US.. it's like a minivan to a lot of people, I guess... but my gf wanted something that isn't too common in LA area.. there are just way too many 3-series and A4 sedans on the road.. you can literally spot one every 15-20 seconds.

The Avants are pretty rare in the US, and sometimes it's good to have something that is rare..

btw, 333 tq is on 93 octane, 323 on 91 octane.
H&R Springs and APR ECU Stage 1 will be on by the end of this year.

They had this sale back in February. Everything for $600 package. This car is still like a baby as it's only 5 months old.. so she wanted to wait one more year before doing anything on it, which i think is a pretty good idea. It's still plenty fun to drive in its stock form!

We actually do have to have them as well. Cops in LA don't really care about it though.. they have other serious things to look around these days.

I think they do it once a year. And yeah that stock option is one of the must options to have. Turning the stage 1 off with 1 button on the steering wheel for service visits.. FTW

Slightly OT, but just went to Audi's website and saw this...

Is 'biggest' something to brag about?
Don't get me wrong. If I was in the market for a car in that class...A4 sedan would probably be my first choice...but I didn't know 'biggest' was something to put on a billboard like that.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for being such a huge, steaming pile of suck

Maybe I'll feel different when I have kids and are carting their ungrateful asses all over hell and creation for soccer practice and birthday parties ... Maybe at that point I'll just accept the automatic since I'll be busy keeping them from fighting and cleaning projectile vomit off the back of my head.

Wait a year to add APR? Pssh, i had my A4 chipped within 400 miles.

Which i might add the current owner is now at 98k miles without major issues. Granted hes still on my K04 turbo that i had installed at 30k miles. Ah i miss the A4 sometimes.

Every person that has waited to get their 1.8 or 2.0 chipped always says they should have done it much earlier.

Please, stop with the propaganda. If the 2.0T isn't reliable, why should the 1.8 be reliable. They blow coilpacks all the time and they can't even do that right. If you want to blow something, do it right like Honda did. Blow the transmission.

I never considered that a major problem either. It wasn't even a blip on the radar when I was looking at our purchase because of how simple the repair is.

They did correct it on the 2.0T; however, IIRC there is a TSB out right now which does involve replacing the coilpacks. Haven't read about it in too much detail but I think it applies mostly to early model B7s. I haven't received any notice about it for our B7. At the rate I'm putting miles I won't know until June which is when my next oil change is scheduled.

^ My gf got it for $42k. It's 2010 Audi A4 Avant Premium Plus with sport pkg and navigation. The MSRP was like 44k something or 43k something.

Just so you know, some can say it is overpriced and others can say the opposite. It's totally subjective.

She does want it.

It's just that she wants to enjoy her stock car for awhile.

If it was my car, the chip would have been on it right after I drove off the lot.

Apples and oranges.... why not chip his own car? Doesn't sound so right as "why doesn't he get a boob job?"

If she wants to then sure. But then I doubt it. Will she then want coilovers, wheels, appearance mods, etc?

No fair, I didn't know

Yeah, my stance on it is like this.... I'm not going to get a car mod for my woman if its costs several hundred dollars and she doesn't even want it. But if she does want it, I don't have a problem with her getting it or even getting it for her either

I had some grandiose notions about overlays, springs, and rims on my wife's IS until she kicked me in the nuts and said to leave her car the f#&% alone!

I wasn't much of a fan of the IS and still aren't one, but one of my brother's neighbors has a black roof overlay, OEM or F-Sport lip kit (dunno what really, looks OE) and is lowered to the point where all the wheel gap is gone. Looks great now.

Only springs? In time you'll blow the stock sport shocks. You'll need to do both shocks and springs.

^ hmm.. it's a dillemma because for my car, I'm definitely going to get a set of H&R coils or KW V3 because I do drive hard everyday.

But my gf doesn't do spirited runs or anything, that's why I opted for a set of springs. There's KW V1 for B8s, and it's like $1100. That's not bad at all, but I think it'd wasting money just because she won't drive hard anyway.

How many miles can a stock shock usually last with like 1 inch drop? We only put like 8000 miles per year, and my gf will probably get a new car in 4 years anyway. lol

It's all speculative. Some guys on Audizine have reported blowing out their stock sport shocks within 10K miles, others have said they can last up to 50K if not more. Of course, this is for the B7 stock sport suspension, but the same conditions apply to the B8 because most guys are basically dropping their car about another 1" from stock sport height. If she is going to get rid of the car, you're probably either going to 1) put the car back to stock condition before you sell to improve your chances of selling the car for more, or 2) risk being forced to replace the shocks and not being able to put it back to stock afterwards when you are ready to sell.

The conditions are worse for guys going from stock, non-sport suspension to upgraded springs with stock non-sport shocks.
