2009 TL versus 2016 TLX
Hey everybody,
Im assisting my girlfriend in the purchase of a new 2016 TLX V6 She currently has a 2009 TL V6. The 2009 seems so much more luxurious. I know the technology has improved. What are peoples thoughts? Shes driving one for the day and doesnt seem super excited

if shes not too thrilled....obviously, she enjoys the 09 more and will favor that over the TLX.
dont worry about hearsay, what others say....
a happy wife will make for a happy life! if she likes the 09, keep it!

Looks like someone did not sense the humor in my comment. If you think my advice to op is to ACTUALLY get a new girlfriend.... then only debate here is if you just sufferred a brain fart or not..... and I will definately lose to ppl who suffer from brain farts.

Unlike how you went from your boss and vip sports ILX to a TLX, going from a TL to a TLX isn't really an upgrade.... even if the 2009 TL is

Having driven the TLX, it definitely seems like a downgrade from my '13 TL.
And I'm with AZuser, the Accord Touring is a better vehicle than the 4cyl TLX, I'd even argue it's a much better vehicle than the base V6 TLX.

Definitely better value than base V6 TLX still, IMO. It's not until you get to the V6 TLX with Tech or Advance pack that I'd start to consider the TLX over an Accord Touring.

Or, if she likes her TL, just listen to her--she should keep it.

Who needs to search with memorable posts like that? Some things, once seen, cannot be unseen (or forgotten).
Never said you getting a TLX wasn't an upgrade. I did say that an Accord Touring V6 would have been a better/smarter upgrade (more tech, more power, larger and better looking wheels, lower price) vs going with another 2.4 engine. But as long as you're happy....
Besides an Acura being a Honda, a lot of us were former Acura owners. We still have friends here. Just because we no longer own an Acura means we cannot come here anymore?

All I'm saying is when i had my CTS I was on the Cadillac forums, when I had a 330i I was on the BMW forums. Now I have a TLX I'm on the ACURA forums. Me personally.. I wont be able to own a CHEVY and be on the Cadillac forums, but to each their own.
Now I'm not saying the Accord is not a good car or value.... BUT.. so is lots of other MAIN stream vehicles, for instance the Kia Optima.. I heard the designer for Audi quit and designs the Optima now. He has done a great job! ... Park the Accord next to the optima debaged them both. Its the Optima for me. And for the same price range
Same goes for the TLX v6 or i4. It just looks more expense than an Accord
I had a V6 tlx loaner and the power difference is not all that noticable. Yeah its a bit quicker but its definately not 5k quicker. Also I work on my own cars and the i4 has enough room under the hood to work comfortably. Also, I do 15k miles a year so saving gas is a plus... for me the i4 is perfect over the v6
