2008 Honda Accord

My friend and I went to the Honda dealer Yesterday to check out the new Accord. He might be in the market since he has almost 200k miles on his 2000 Accord.

The new Accord is impressive. We test drove a 4 cyl and it had decent pickup. (They didn't have a 6 cyl prepped yet). The interior is a big upgrade from the previous version. (I rate it very close to my TL-S). We were looking at a Non-Navi model so I couldn't check out their system. The Accord Navi, like the RDX is NOT a touch screen. I didn't particularly like the system in the RDX.

The car handled very good, but it is a significantly larger car than the current TL. I was sitting in the back seat and my knees didn't even touch the seat in front. I think it jumped ahead of the new Camry as a all around family sedan. I still think the TL-S is more sporty. The Accord coupe with the 6 spd is the way to go if you want a sporty Honda.

Just my

Did you drive a sedan or coupe? I know you said the coupe is the way to go, but didn't say if that's the one you were looking at.

I didn't even realize they were out or what they looked like until I bought a Motor Trend a few days ago.

Sharp looking car.

But it drives me a little nuts how next-gen Hondas practically have more features than last-gen Acuras.

honda's thought-process makes me wonder at times.

Why? The TSX and TL are 4 year old cars. New Honda's BETTER have equal or better features.

Same could be said for Nissan and Infiniti. I'd say the difference between Toyota and Lexus is evident, however.

thank goodness for competition. Honestly it weren't for Toyota or Nissan, I don't think we'd ever see an Accord with the 3.5L V6.

Same thing happened with the '03 Accord when it came out. The EX-V6 Navi made the '03 TL look overpriced. I however got an '03 TL anyway, it looked better and didnt have as many hard plastics, plus the warranty.

'09 TL with SH-AWD will be amazing.

oh yes it will, can't wait for that!

i'm a bit disappointed of the exterior design, close to the concept but for some reason the concept always looks better. BUT i do have faith that drop + kit will make this shit look hawt

i read that the new Accord sedan is about the same length as the 300C, which to me is a long car. wow, Accord you've grown up since you were a tiny compact back in the 70s and 80s.

Larger than an RL. That's going in the wrong direction -- the Avalon was much too large for me back in 2005, and my TL is as large a car as I want.

I hope the next gen. TL and TSX hold the line on size and weight, but wouldn't be surprised if they all get bigger and I end up with a 335, Boxster or some lighter, semi-fast mid-age crisis car.

I am not feeling the coupe at all! To me the front looks like a Scion tc, the side a BMW of some type, & the rear looks like a Hyundai tiburon. Hey, the interior looks good though.

read that the new accord is a few inches longer than the RL and a bit wider as well.

with that said, i wouldn't be surprised either to see the TL and TSX get bigger. that's a bit of a shame because i felt that the TSX is in a unique class/size/price from its competitors.

The front under spoiler looks like an 06-08 TSX lip spoiler.

If I didn't have a little one on the way, I'd be all over the new Accord.

I wouldn't be surprised either, since that seems to be what happens with nearly all the cars every time they're redesigned. I hate that. If they want to have a bigger car, then make a brand new car and call it something else. But keep the current cars the same size. I don't want to drive a yacht!

I saw the Accord commercials on TV, and the videos of both the coupe and sedan make it look better than the still photos did... Can't wait to see 'em in person.

I agree. And that didn't happen with the new CR-V.

I also saw the new Accord commercial on TV this weekend and agree that it looks better than the still photos, which is a good thing. I wonder how it will look in person. I'm hoping I like the rear end better than the photos.

Although the spy pics of the new TL make it look like a much larger car...possibly due to just the camouflage, but I doubt it'll remain the same size.

The Accord EX V6 will do the trick. I'll bet 500 bucks that after break-in, that car will get 33 mpg or better on regular gas using cruise control at 70 mph.

Not to mention it got negligible better gas mileage than the regular Accord anyway. Totally not worth the premium.

The talk/rumour over at TOV is those spy pics are of the new TSX. Someone said the new TL mules haven't seen the road yet.
