The S2K is a nice car, but its really small inside and same with the 350Z (a backseat of some sort is prefered)

does he definitely want to buy new?
does he want to "mod" the car?
I would say STi/EVO, but he wants AT.....
i think the 128 would be a good choice if he can wait for it.
how about a GTi, or GLi, or even......R32 - DSG is supposed to be a lot of fun, and people can't give him crap for not buying a manual. and AWD in the R32 would be nice.
I just still find it hard to pay 30k+ for an accord/altima. I know that's what the top of the line are going for, it just seems like such a boring decision.

Im thinking Altima; Accord; Eclipse right now..
Heres why:
The Altima has about 10-12 more lb tq. than the accord, and a couple more HP, and weighs about 300 lb less. And i dont think the Accord has Sport Shift, which is a turn off. And the Altima has a push button engine start that i like and gives better gas mileage.

wow, i hadn't seen the accord coupe but i just looked it up and it looks badass! I wonder how it drives though. I sure hope the altima coupe drives better than the sedan though. I took it for a test drive since they didn't have any of the coupe's and man the steering is shit. Its about as bad as my first car ('94 sable station wagon) which felt like i was steering with those video game steering wheels.
+1 here on the rx-8. Two of my friends have them and those cars can really haul ass. I don't know the numbers, but i'm sure they'd do a lot better than any of these coupes.

His folks arent looking for a used car.. i suggested a used G35 too but he said he doubts theyll go used..

I was checking out the numbers for the RX-8, and the cars pretty expensive to have only 212hp and 159lb tq. for the auto.. i know the numbers make it seem slower than it actually is, but i still dont think it can keep up with the others on terms of performance without mods..
and 1 guy in our group has a Mazda 6 too, so we want to get something different. Plus, from what i know, maintaining the Mazda 6, along with other Mazdas, is more expensive than you would think.. but yes, it is a quick car!

shit if he has that nice of a budget... why not get him black on black g-35 coupe or a nice white one. i would go with that over the accord coupe anyday, although it is a nice car but g-35 is more of a headturner.

yea the G will get up there after options.
not sound like a hater, but man, i remember when i was 19, my friends and i couldn't care less if we had the same brand-new '99 accord.
your friend's a lucky guy. hope he finds a car he's happy with. and kudos for you if you talk him out of the eclipse.

yeah dude.. the eclipse just does not work... if he wants power, why not tell him about a gto or sumthin around those lines, and i dont think 07 g35 would be quite that expensive.. especially since 08's came in. I think the g-35 well equipped out of the lot would be 35,500

its wierd... a lot of Indian people, specially our kind, usually get a nice car.. same with me, i started with a BMW 540i, totalled it, and got an TL.. im not trying to brag or anything, thats just how it is, they reward us for...nothing? lol

Not much out there for rwd coupes under 30K (RX-8 and Mustang) and even if you include the 2 seater convertibles (s2k, miata, etc) there really aren't that many choices...

1 series is going to be a little shit box, go with the accord, altima, or bicyle, eclipse is a girls car,
tell the kid to put in 5k of his own money and he can get whatever he wants: new g37, A5 should be out soon,
must be nice to have that problem
people with money, hate them

i wished i could have started with a nice bmw, but for me... i have to buy my own shit, so i went with an acura cl 6 speed. reliable, and maintenance is low low low

IMO, buying a car and optioning it because someone "may" drive it is the worse decision you can make when looking for cars. He should get what he wants and if "someone" else wants to drive then they should learn how to operate the car.
He is supposed to buy it in Oct or Nov, shouldnt take as long as Dec.. ill let you guys know what he gets in the end.. keep the opinions coming in, ill let him read this whole thread one of these days lol
