And people still pay it. I think it was when the M5 first came out I went to the dealer to look at them. Added onto the MSRP was a 25k exclusivity charge.

Same went with the new E55 by MBZ. I guess if people really want something...

wait 3-6 months and you will get one for MSRP if you aren't up for some hunting on the front end...

Ah, the M3 my dream car that yet again has financially eluded me (i love my house).

I saw an 08' M3 coupe 2 days ago with a driver smiling ear to ear as he revved up the left lane of route 1. When I got to the light I asked how much the dealership parted with it for (since I couldn't read the fine print on the sticker) and he said 80K.

I just smiled at him and said 'good luck with it'. At least he launched it in front of me that was cool and it sounded beautiful.

Not much room on one of those right now, but no markups per se.

Bimmer dealers here in the bay area are always selling the new ones at a premium .... I know this 'cuz my buddy works there .... test drove M5 (:drooling there and it's marked around 100k, so I can't imagine a M3 would commend that high of a price IMO ...

You won't have to wait or hunt.

This is getting a lot of play on the car forums. It looks like the "Hollywood Markup" is just that, with plenty of evidence that M3's are being sold at MSRP most everywhere else.

Be sure to post your thoughts, as these become available I'm curious how they are to drive. Balls out performance aside, M3's have always been rewarding "drivers" cars.

I will. pics too.

I fear what my subie will feel like after driving the M3. That's part of the reason I haven't driven a 335. I could any time, but have chose not to.

I sure as hell am not in the market for a new car anytime soon. :\

People like to be the first to own things. Even look at the Xbox 360/PS3/Wii, same thing.

If you got suckers willing to pay it then why not charge it.

Theres a huge list of cars that were selling above sticker when first released. Even the mighty Civic Si.

there are always going to be people who don't care about paying more for something whether it's a car or an iphone or the latest jordans.
