Depreciation will be noticably less with the MDX, FWIW. It will ultimately be worth more.

Best,

I should have qualified my response more accurately. I was unimpressed with the engine, it lacked grunt.

When you calculate the residual value into the equation - sticking w/ Honda makes more sense.

true, only the mdx & honda will still be worth anything in a couple years. You cant go wrong with either. It comes down to features and how they feel driving.

Whaddya expect? It's an eight-person people mover, not a sports car!

I still don't get the attraction of suv's like the Cayenne and Range Rover sport - if you want a quick, great handling vehicle - get a car.

Also the EX-L is very nice. What is making you go from a CL to a Pilot?

Another thing....I know for a fact the Pilot takes regular gas. I believe the MDX states the need for premium. That should be a big factor with gas prices.
We also have an 2005 Pilot that we love. It's a great vehicle and I also liked the layout better than the MDX at the time. The 8 passenger seating has come in handy a handful of times as well. The pilot also holds more cargo because the back window doesn't slope as much which has helped a number of times: camping and on Home Depot runs.

Both are good vehicles and are essentially siblings. If you wind up getting a Pilot, make sure you visit the www.hondapilot.org site- it's similar to this one and full of info.

MDX... In our household we have an 04 Accord, 04 MDX, and 03 CL-S. The MDX is our second after having a 2001. We did have the oiljet recall done on the 2001 at 48K miles. Sold the SUV with 79K and bought an 04 MDX. Personally, I wouldn't consider another SUV unless I was going for a 2007 MDX.

Pilots are just too boxy. True in comparison the price point is cheaper, but they by no means ride, or handle the same.

If the miles are low on the 05 MDX you are looking at, and it's certified. I would lean towards that instead of the Pilot.
