2006 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic

My family just got a 2006 Mercedes-Benz E350 4Matic. Is there anything to be concerned about this car? I drove the car and it runs great.

Thanks

I just read that the E350 offers a 7spd automatic transmission in the MY2006 and up, that's neat, also they offer the new 3.5L motor, which is larger than the 2005MY, and offers a 20% increase in HP.

It should be a great drive.

Check out mbworld.com. Tons of great info there including recalls, etc.

From the research I have been doing, great cars... although I haven't been focusing on 4Matics since I do not want AWD. But you should love it.

Thanks
My Friend just picked up a pristine 07 E350 4MATIC for an absolute STEAL...
Seems their previous reputation proceeds them given their shit resale, but so far, it sounds like these are really solid cars.

Yeh, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard my dad was getting it. But after driviing it from the dealership. It felt really solid. Hopefully that feeling lasts.

electrical has always been a weak point of Benz. just like transmissions of Acura/Honda. I'm not trying to tear down Benz, i'd love to have one but almost every car has 1 or 2 weak spots.

^ That's what they said about Audi and we're on our second Audi in 3 years and neither has or ever had electrical issues.

Plus, from what i've read on MBWorld... the further away you are from the 2003 models, the better the reliability... so your 2006 should be good

I know there were a lot of issues with the 7spd transmissions for the first year or so, but other than that and the electrical gremlins it should be OK.

Here are a couple of photos of it. My dad is getting the interior cleaned and maybe detailed so i'll post photo's of them later. Since this is not my car, there will be no mods for this car.

I don't know to much about the E class. Why a E350 and not the E550 or E55? anyway congrats. It should have the 7 speed tranny but does it have the paddle shifter?

I own a CLK W209 but next one will be a S65 and I give the CLK to the wife.

Dad got it at a GM dealership near the DVP. It's still under warranty. I haven't read the specs on the car. Might say it in the owners manual. No peddle shift. It was the fathers choice, so I assumed he wasen't looking for a high powered AMG. Car is in amazing condition.

E550 = V8
E55 = Supercharged V8 (plus no 4Matic available)

Maybe they wanted fuel economy to go along with the rest of the perks since the E350 is a V6 and has been known to get 30+ mpg highway. Also, a V6 is cheaper to insure.

Looks good, I heard the earlier models had a ton of problems but 05 and up are pretty solid.

If you look at the demographic of people that usually drive the E-class, there are few owners that would actually use/need that extra hp and trq. Drive an E350 sometime and you'll see there's not much left to be desired unless you're an avid driver, in which case the E55 (or expecially the E63) would fit the bill.

The reasson I was asking is I own a CLK 500 and I used to own a S600 over sea before I sold it. To me if your going to get a Merc you off getting the V8s and above. Just don't see myself owning a 6. I guess it's every one preferences.
