2005 Rl
I realize that this is a TL forum, but many of us have been interested to see what the new RL was going to be like.
I was at the dealer today and saw a few of them and sat in one. They have some terriific new exterior colors. All's I can say is WOW! I will take one for a test drive, but my first impession is this car is..... quite impressive. I love my TL, but to say it competes with a BMW 5 series is a bit of a stretch. Our engine is bullet proof and nothing beats overall quality of an Acura or a Lexus, but the leather and paint job and other internal components: i.e. steering wheel and dashboard are just better quality in the BMW.
The new RL definitely does compete with a fully loaded 5 series. With an MSRP of under $49K a Japanese car manufacturuer has done what they do best: take on a German car manufacturer....and beaten them. The interior is incredibly luxurious and it uses the same electronics that the 5 and 7 series uses. The seats are very comfortable and it has all the great toys our TL has; e.g. bluetooth, XM and 5.1 DVD-A. It also has great leather seats and real wood on the dash and doors. Add AWD and Acura quality and this car is an Audi, Mercedes and BMW beater. When my lease is up on my TL I'll probably pick one of these RL's up.
