2005 Jeep rides better than my TL

So I saw the comercial for the new jeep against the Jag, BMW, and Audi, and I pretty much laughed. Now I will just shutup. SO my TL is at the dealership getting its 3rd transmission, and they hooked me up with enterprise and gave me a 2005 Jeep grand cherokee. I have to say wow!

It rides smoother than the TL and quiter. Today with my GF we where driving and she said the same thing.

I kinda was thinking about trading in the TL for one. I saw them going for 30k for the limited model without the hemi.

msn auto rated the Hemi G. Cherokee 0-60mph at 6.7. if MSN is right, it will easily run with an RL, TSX and last generation TLs

Off subject but M/T just rated the MB G55 0-60mph at 4.7. I would love to take that thing out and eat up all the unsuspecting ricers and other hot shots.

I also had a 05 JGC from Enterprise last month. Overall it was nice but I felt the top of the windshield was low. My sight line was close to the AS1 line and I am only 6' but to have short legs and a long torso. You can pick up a 2wd Limited JGC for under 28K at Carmax in ATL with the non-Hemi 8, probably the same at their Orlando new Jeep dealership. To be honest I would rather have the Pathfinder, flat folding 3 rows of seats, I think more HP and TQ from a 4.0L VQ, better fuel economy, 6000 lb towing, better equipped and probably better reliability for about the same price. I have driven both but not back to back, the 4wd LE Pathy I drove seemed to ride as well if not better than the JGC, but again not back to back.

The only real question mark is the reliability of the Pathy, built in the US although at a different plant from the Armada which has had problems. If you don't mind driving or having it shipped Carmax in Laural, Maryland (new Nissan dealership) has them under invoice and no destination charge. An LE loaded with NAV (no DVD) is about 34,500, undercuts the 4Runner by quite a bit (CarMax also has a Toyo dealership there). The LE has LOTS of equipment including Bose 6 disc MP3 player, there are only 2 options DVD and Nav.

Very nice - LR3 could be a winner - except it's about 10k too expensive. I'll buy a one year old after it's depreciated to 35k.

The 05 GC is very nice (Jeep did their homework), especially with the 5.7liter.......for 06 the Overland is coming back out (will be even nicer than the Limited).

New model Land Rovers are not unreliable, the Freelander, old Discovery (now gone), old Range Raver (gone in 02) aren't known to be the most reliable.

My oldman has an 04 Range Rover and the thing is ridiculous (lux package, 20in wheels). Everyone that get's a ride in it, is like WOW.

U can keep changing cars, and I just want u to know none of them is a "perfect".

PS: Next time please think about whether you want a sedan or a suv, or truck... then action (to buy it) ...

I'm not a big fan of the new Land Rovers, but I love the Range and this thing is just sexy...

I'd take a Magnum R/T over the 5.7L GC. It has the same engine at the Jeep, except the Magnum is good for 10 more HP and 15 more lb-ft, has a lower center of gravity, and is faster... but keeps the same practicality of the Jeep, cargo-wise. Probably going to come out the door a lot cheaper too.

What Jeep engine did it have?

If I were to get an SUV I'd have to have 3 rows in it. I sat in the back of a new Armada at the Int'l Car Show and I'm like 5'8 and I was hitting my head on the ceiling. So careful with what has 3 rows. GM has the new Uplander/Relay/Buick (forgot the name) that is much cheaper and has wayyyy more utitlity and space. I've already seen deals for $19k for them in the newspaper.

And yeah I'd rather have the Magnum R/T vs the 5.7 GC too. Same amount of seats. $10k cheaper. Faster and better looking.

I dunno, still sounds like something note worthy. A luxury car shouldn't lose its luxury ride in 4 years and 2nd its ride is being compared to a non luxury jeep suv.

I do like the Magnum as well, however some of us need towing capacity. My personal problem is I need more than 5000 pounds (not much more) and would like three rows of seats (the thrid row doesn't have to be huge) and would prefer something smaller than full size. This really cuts the choices down!

keep your TL............................ Dont trade in for that POS Jeep.. who cares if it rides better if you want a better ride than go for another car....IF you own a TL you have to upgrade to something more better and sexier...

There's a lot of Land Rover Discoverys around Ohio. Most inconsiderate drivers ever.
Same thing goes for the ones I have encountered in Michigan and elsewhere.

Driving a Land Rover is a license to being a prick, it seems.

Most luxury cars/SUV's ride smoothly- especially a GC or a Range Rover which both have lots of suspension travel and don't even pretend to be sporty. Try a 300C or Dodge Magnum if you want a comfy ride, space, and okay handling.

Every indication is 4WD.........not sure what the market would be for a 2WD $45k (give or take) GC.
