2002 audi 2.7t vs 6mt::anyone tried?
just wondering. my co-worker keeps challenging me with his a6 (auto). i know it's got 250 hp and it's 0-60 is about 6 sec. what about a 1/4 mi? given that i'm not the greatest driver (this is my first stick). the quattro and bi-turbo (or whatever it's called) sounds intimidating. he won't have any wheel spin or hop problems like us. his only mod is a drop-in k&n. i'm all stock for now. what do you guys think? also, any tips on launching a manual with minimal spin? what rpms work the best? should i always shift at redline? these are probably all stupid questions but give me a credit, i've been driving manual for less than 3 months and mostly on highways. thanks!

Race him and find out...I say you have the advantage, but it will be close. On a roll you should take him. With an auto, he really can't harness the AWD potential well. He might be lying and have a chip. In that case he has the advantage with 300 hp and 350 ft lbs.

My best friend has a A6 2.7 Tip and we race all the time. Even though he has AWD I kill him off the line and beat him about 2 cars to 60. One the highway its closer we ran from 50- 100 and I beat him by 1 car. That car really moves once the biturbos spool. But it should be an easy kill since you are a 6sp.

My boss has one. We've played around a few times. I have a modded TL-S (w/o the sc) and I can easily take him after the initial launch to about 115mph (1.5 to 2 cars lengths). I end up better from a roll of about 45mph (3 cars or so to the same speed) in all honesty. He had a lightly modded S4 before the A6 and it was much quicker than the TL-S from any start...

A6 2.7T Tip,,, 0-60mph 6.45-6.60 seconds. 1/4 mile best day 14.9 , mostly 15.0-15.2.
60' about 2.25-2.35. Takes awhile to get it going even if the turbos spool and create 258lbs from about 1850rpms. Car weighs 3850 no driver.
6 speed have run 14.4 and ~5.8-6.0 0-60mph.
I would think the CL-S auto has a slight advantage and the manual CL-S should do well against the tiptronic. Just make sure you hit your shifts.
