2001+ Nissan Pathfinder/Infiniti QX4

Any known problems to look out for? Reliability issues, etc? The value on these cars really took a dump. The QX4 offers tons of features and a 2002 with less than 50k miles can be had for less than $20k

I think someone on here just got one... Maybe it was A30CLS. They're nice looking cars.

Well, if you haven't guessed from my posts i LOVE my 95.

and yes AS3.0 got a QX.

i think the later years have a couple with suspension that will cause premature wear on the tires. Nothing huge.

I don't like the way they drive. I drove an '02 Pathfinder LE for about a month, just didn't like the way it drove and felt. And it did have some weird tire wear. Also there was a funny noise coming from the rear tires at highway speeds. Interior ergonomics are not too good - I think its important to keep in mind that this was still a "truck", in the greater sense. Drive before you buy.

I drove a few back before I bought the CL and liked 'em. I want something with more room but with the same comfort amenities as the CL and at a cheaper price. I think the Pathfinder LE or even more so the QX4 will suit this need just fine.

I was leaning towards a Toyota Tacoma, but I know I'll miss the leather, heated seats, and all the other plush options the CL has given me.

Used to have a blk/blk/navi QX4, I absolutely loved that SUV. I do have to say though, for a being a luxury SUV, it still rode like a truck. The only thing I never really liked about the vehical is that half of the color choices are two-tone (white/silver, bronze/tan), that always bothered me for some reason, but that's just my opinion. Also, for being a small SUV, it got pretty poor gas milage, but overall I loved it!

I have been in one of the last model year QX4's,.........forget what year they stopped making it,.....02? Anyway, I thought it was pretty nice. Bear in mind I was only in the back, and have NO idea what it is like to drive. The back seats were heated if I remember correctly,..thought that was cool.

Yea i juist picked one up like two months back. 2001 QX4 white on tan loaded except for navi(but having a system put in soon). mine still has a two year extended warantee or 100k miles. i got mine for 16k form a private owner, has 50K miles on it and is very clean. i went to the dealership and they had two of them with more miles and were really trashed and wanted 22K+.

As of now i have had no problems with it, it's a very strong truck. It goes like hell in the snow and i love it, can practially take it anywhere. It has a nice ride and is not as rough as the CL but you still do feel the road a little bit. My only complaint is gas milage, i do mostly city and i get between 12-15mpg, but i do have a sort of a heavy foot. overall it is a very strong truck. the only things i have done to it is changed the tranny fluid, oil once i got it(do it every 3K anyways), put brembo rotors and VGX ceramic pads on it and changed the fuel filter and belts. other then that i haven't had any problems at all.

Thier camera phone pics, the digi isn't working.

any questions just ask

I just traded my Caddy in for an 05 Pathfinder SE, and I really like it so far. I went in originally looking for an 03 pathfinder LE, But I got too good a price on a new one, so I went that way. the new one is a LOT bigger.

New one is VERY nice. Even though you cant get it in a stick

Apparently, its also still VERY off-road capable.

I like the smaller one better. And now the Xterra is about the size of the older Pathfinder.

The Xterra with the 6spd manual is really nice to drive...but I dont like the interior.

That said. I agree I like the smaller pathys better, too. My bodystyle

And even though I like the new Pathfinder a lot. When the time comes the new FJ cruiser from toyota with the 6spd manual is beckoning to me. Its just a sweet ass truck.

People have rolled their CL-S's too. Not really concerned with one isolated incident. Glad to hear your buddy made it out okay though.

Buying a house that needs rehab work.

The LGT is $9k more than what a truck/suv would run me.

I can wait another year to pick up a "toy"

Well, if you want to save money...and you plan on getting a toy in a year so. Screw paying 16g for a truck. Do what I did and something older and cheaper.

You have to look a little bit, but you can find a great SUV/Truck for not a lot of money.
Especially now with people dumping them cause of mpg.

mmm...a little yes, a little no. You planning on off-roading it?

Mom had one, it was a nice ride. Good if you have to take clients.
Bad if you have to to go off-street.

She has a rx400h now...sweet

Anyway, trying to make other suggestion because the ride in the pathy can be brutal...i think the new ones are really good though.

I dont know...get someone to ride in the back with you on test drives.

I rarely have clients in the car... maybe once a month if that. But driving to a job site in a 2002 Pathfinder LE looks more professional than in a '92 Tacoma.

Tacoma isn't out completely. But I wanted the crew cab and can't hardly find any of them for sale.

Also for the same price I can get a Pathfinder LE which offers more seating, more amenities, and much more horsepower.

my buddy has one...no real problems, few little things like the window regulator, Cd player went bad...all covered under warranty though. He does complain ALOT about the poor gas mileage...he gets like 170 miles or something like that per tank. the car really eats gas...if you dont mind that, its a jap car, and should (in theory) last a while

It's a 21 gallon tank and he only get 170 miles to it?

That's like 8 MPG... H2's get better mileage than that.

well, im sure he didnt use all 21 gallons before each fill. 3-4 gallons is probably the reserve, and he probably filled it before the light for the reserve turns on. my guess would be around 12/mpg

SUVs don't age well. True, not every used SUV is a POS mid-90s Explorer, but I'd be careful, even with Pathfinders and 4Runners.

I usually take my pathy to about a quarter of tank...and I get just over 200 miles.

I had a miracle tank a couple weeks ago where I was at 200 miles at half a tank

mine is a stick...it helps a little.

I've got a '01 LE 4X4 that is loaded. We bought it new in '01. It currently has 88K miles and is doing very well. The only issue that we have it with it is two of the oxygen sensors went at 38K and 42K (just beyond warranty) and cost $200 each to replace, but they have not gone out since (knocking on wood). The dealer told me that issue was common for the VQ engine. Otherwise the truck has been excellent. It still feels tight and looks good. Just the other day I was at the dealership and looked at the new PF. I was not impressed and thought the the fit/finish of the new interior is not as nice as ours-the plastic looked real cheaper to me. Just my opinion though...

We get 17-18MPG consistently and can bust out 20 on the highway. It says that it recommends premium but I took it down to regular during the gas price increase over the summer and the wife and I noticed that nothing changed performance wise or gas mileage wise. The back seat is tight and not all that roomy. It is comfy for two though. We have a childseat in the middle now so nobody is particularly comfortable back there now!

When we were shopping for this in '01, we looked at everything in it's class (4runner, Exploder, Durango, QX, Grand Cherokee, etc.) and the PF just hit us over the head as the best buy and the nicest. Does it drive like a car- no, but it is a unibody design so it is not the pure truck design that sarlacc has. I do think that it drivers nicer (even now) than other similar SUVs that I've recently taken out. That opinion could be biased though

I really wanted to justify getting the QX b/c the loaded PF that we got is nearly the same and I already had an Infiniti and liked the dealership experience. The price difference was over 4K for just a couple of better features (HID's, nicer leather/wood, heated rear seat and steering wheel, and 17's instead of 16's.), plus the dealership was almost an hour away so I would not be able to take full advantage of the Infiniti perks (car wash on Sat, owner clinics, etc.). I will say though if the price is similar now and you have an Infiniti dealership near you, I'd definitely go for the Infiniti for the dealership alone. I was never a fan of taking our PF into Nissan for service next to the 10 yr old Sentra owners who are trying to get an oil change for $5.

Cliff Notes- We really like the truck and we'll probably keep it when we trade up for a larger SUV in 18 months or so b/c I've taken very good care of it and I won't get what it is "worth" to me via trade or private seller. Good luck
