20?? Civic Si SEDAN VS. 04 TL 6 MT.
On I-75 going North to Sunrise.
Got my azz HANDED to me by a black sedan SI.
He was lowered with black rims with a red stripe. Exhaust.
I was just cruising along but he came by me pretty fast and I was feeling froggy so I took off and initially pulled on him. Then I took off again, he was at least 3 car lengths behind...and I was "givin her all she's got!" From 3rd to 6th from about 70mph...and let me tell you...
This guy came up from behind and flew by me in 5 seconds or less.
I want to say I might have heard a blow off valve of a turbo...or at least I HOPE he had something major going on.
Anyway...if I'm gonna make threads for when I kill, I have to acknowledged when I'm killed.
Lol. Dammit, and here I was trying to save my gas on this tank.

close section but this belongs in racing & competition. Yeah Civics are pretty mean, but yesterday I took my RSX-S out for the first and what do you know an 00 SI pulls up and starts rolling back, driving forward, rolling back. So I take off nooby, because thats the only way I know but as soon as first gear caught I let it rip and had him by 3rd no problems, my first race on this car <3.

Is that what you are saying? I'm not arguing, just making sure I understood what you wrote. If you are in the 13's, got any time slips?

^^^ I'm with you, that sounds hard to believe, my Si is far from being a fast car, it's fine as a daily driver, but I have no illusion of it being something it's not.

I def. don't condone illegal racing. It's dumb and I probably shouldn't have done it. In hindsight, I'm getting too old for that stuff.
On another note...this guy moved like he had a lot more than just headers. I had an RSX-S, an 05 and my TL feels like it's faster.

You are mistaken, I have not "raced" on the street in over a decade, I enjoy a spirited jaunt down a backroad or a cruise on a nice day, but NOTHING good can come from racing another person on the road. I actually dropped out of a cruise during the cruise when the leader decided to increase the pace to around 100mph on a busy highway and ultimately stopped participating with the organization that put it together when they not only condoned this action, they thought it was "cool" and not a problem. A few months later a member of this group was killed and injured people in another car exercising this poor judgement on a busy street. Don't fool yourself for a second to think it's ok and won't happen to you or that everyone does it, no matter how you slice it, it's wrong and VERY unsafe.

sTo be honest with you, I agree...which is why I say I know better. But then you hear about what you mention happening with people going any speeds with alcohol involved...or not...or people texting etc. I think it comes down more to the your control of the car and anticipation and experience. I'm not infallible but I do consider myself a very good driver, as denoted by my gf, mother, father and anyone else that's been in the car with me. They all say the same thing...it's scary but their never scared because they know I'm in control of the car and not the other way around.
I don't swerve in and out of traffic or do it when the risks are high. There are inherent risks to anyone that sets foot (or wheel) on the road. I will agree that the results of an impact are much more detrimental at high speeds but it doesn't necessarily increase your probability for an accident.
If the other person that's fooling around is wreckless in their driving/racing...I back off immediately. Plus, as I previously stated, this happens less and less. I don't really feel the urge to play as much as I used to.

I've never looked into it, but I suspect my car is mid-high 14's in the 1/4, that's not what this car is designed to do - there are much better $20k drag cars out there.

The Si's are about low 15 sec stock

So everyone is confirming my suspicions then...for that guy to have come behind me from 3 to 5 car lengths and pass me like I was standing still while I'm gunning it in 4th to 5th...
...
...he ain't stock.
Come to think of it. 13 seconds is a friggin fast ass quarter mile for a car I used to the share the engine with. There was NO WAY my old RSX was anywhere near that.

A car in the 13's is a fast car, I agree.

Here are some Civic Si's in the high 13's to low 14's with race header, exhaust, intake and a tune:
14.1@101mph
http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda-Civic...lip-11629.html
13.8@102mph
http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda-Civic...lip-19402.html
13.9@100mph
http://www.dragtimes.com/Honda-Civic-Timeslip-6233.html
And here's a youtube video of a stock Civic Si running 14.2@99.5mph

Of course, not everyone can repeat these results since not everyone is good at driving.
