1995 Galant

Any issues with these cars?

Looking to see this one tomorrow.

It will be a commuter car for my girl. Good/Bad ? Why?

It has sunroof/leather etc...

Doubt it really has a V6 though, dont think they were available that year?

My wife's aunt has and it's in terrible shape only because she cant drive for **** (i.e.: bumping into a telephone pole and then blaming the pole for the collision.) While it's no Accord or Camry (or even 2G Altima), I like it's powertrain as it has some heart (2.4L DOHC 4 cylinder). The V6 didnt come out until the following generation (GTZ/ES).

If you must get a galant, find a nice galant VR-4 from the previous generation. Eclipse GSX drivetrain in a four door sedan. Fun as hell, but hard to find.

geep in mind its for a 25yo chick who could care less about performance or looks. She just wants something to get her from A to B and is fairly reliable.

Get a Honda or a Toyota if you're looking for reliable. Mitsubishi reliability = the pits.

...unfortunately, most of them are driven to Hell. But, I did come across a 92 VR4 at a local dealer, and it was in M I N T condition. For a brief second...very brief second...I considered trading my 02 Maxima for it!! It was in that good a shape.

Oh, I totally agree. I was considering one several years ago, but these things get beat into the ground.

I'm just disappointed that the last gen Galant had a VR-4 model in Japan with the GTO (3000 GT in the States) twin turbo V6 drivetrain that would never have passed emissions in the US, but was such a sweet looking and sweet driving car (got to drive one while in Taiwan).

I put a tranmission in my GF's 98 Galant. Had to search around for weeks until I found a good place that sold rebuilt trannys. Cost $700 but thats cheap for 100% computer controlled tranny. All shops wanted $4300 (that included installation obviously)

6hours of my time, and $700 later it's fine.

Mitsubishi's are known to have crank walk on the series engine thats in the galant your looking at.
They have weak oil pumps so they tend to make a lot of upper end noise until you hit a decent RPM.

otherwise her car has been fine... Keep in mind it's a 98 though.
