A New York teen taking a test drive of a family friend's Lamborghini has died after crashing the high-powered sports car into a guardrail.
Police say 18-year-old Samuel Shepard was taking the car for a spin on a county road in Mount Sinai on Long Island early Friday when he lost control. The car's owner, Michael Power, was a passenger in the car and was treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.
Det. Sgt. Michael Fitzharris told Newsday that excessive speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Police told the paper that the two were heading back to a parking lot.

Inexperience kills a lot of teens. I had my own encounter with a guardrail at age 16, but I was driving an Oldsmobile. Hope the family doesn't get greedy and sue the owner.

Loan a lambo to an 18 yr old.. almost as dumb as letting a 9 year old shoot a full auto smg.

so one of your good family friends buys a lambo, you really don't let people drive it?

um... no one has driven my s2000 or 335i, let alone a $300,000 or whatever $X00,000 Lambo..
so no i will not let anyone drive it including my GF.
Guns and cars are not like video games where it does no harm when things go wrong..
Thing will get messy if something goes wrong (when not fatal) and regretful (when someone dies).

I don't blame the kid. I blame the guy who let him drive it fast with him in it. Most ppl I know think the more money someone makes the smarter they are. I think this and many other examples prove that wrong. The richest person I know is also the dumbest person I know, go figure.

yea definitely a different strokes for different folks type of thing. a friend of mine just bought a lamborghini Murcielago a month ago and was giving rides to friends in it over the weekend, he wasn't about to let anyone drive it though. same with my NSX. its not that its an overly powerful car by any means but its just something i won't let anybody else drive. you can take my CL all day long lol.

Remember this one.. HS baseball coach loaned his two ferraris to four of his players.. who would have have seen this coming?
Or test drive with an inexperienced driver..
Inexperience and irresponsibility are about as volatile mixture as seltzer tabs and soda.. unfortunately the kid lost his life because of it.
