Nah, used G35 coupe (low $20G) + bolt ons (Crawford plenum, z-tube + K&N filter, Crawford headers, Stillen exhaust, Technosqare ECU reflash) and you'll get mid 13s.

Yep, '04 CTS-V's can be had for about $35-36k. I bought my '05 brand new for $46. The MSRP is $54k but only suckas buy it for that amount.

I thought about an '01-'02 M5 as well. The thing that closed that door for me was the lack of warranty. They are well-built cars but if something did go wrong you'd be paying up the a$$ for repairs. Another factor was modding that thing is sooooo expensive. For $6k next spring I'll be adding a Magnacharger (with warranty) which claims gains of 130hp/90tq at the wheels (that'll be about 460whp/420wtq.) You'll easily be spending $20k to do that on the M5.

I have to admit though that my car already has rattles. Only 6k on the odo. When the rattles start to annoy me I just give her a little gas and the exhaust note pretty much drowns them out.

The other annoying things about the car are sloppy shifter, clunky drivetrain, the F1's only last about 8-10k miles, wheel hop and the fact that people won't race me as much as they used to in my CLS. All of the listed annoyances are fixed with aftermarket though.

Overall, you'll be happy with any of the cars you're looking at purchasing. Consider yourself lucky to be shopping in that pricerange!

It's gotta be stock... I don't want to deal with modding and the issues that arise with warranty, repairs, etc. Still cruising autotrader for the right car. Gonna see if I can get a friend to head up to Manheim, PA and check out what the prices there are like too.
