10k for an oil change on a MB SLR Mclaren?

I just read that an oil change costs 10 grand on an SLR. Granted, it's a 500k car, but WTF would it cost 10 grand for an oil change? I mean, what could cost that much?

so 50 oil changes = value of the car?

Maybe they use liquid gold as oil?

probably weird placement of oil filter or oil drain plug, or both.
i just read that an 04 audi a8's you need to remove a coolant hose or bend it to remove the oil filter, so it usually costs a bit when you get it done at a dealership

This shouldn't really be a surprise. When the car costs as much as the SLR does the people who own them have no problems affording the service.

Yeah I know, but I'm wondering how that 10k (legitimately) breaks down.

According to the guy who owns a SLR in the link posted above, its $6000 for the 10k service! Which probably includes an oilchange and some other check ups. So no its not 10 grand for an oilchange.

LOL... hate to say this... but that's only something people who do not have money say.

The people who own/buy a SLR McLaren buy a $500k car the way an average person buys a $40k car... so a $6k service to them is like a $500 service for an Acura service...

How much labor hours to do the oil change? How much is the labor rate per hour? I assume oil and filter on the high end is $250-350 rest has to be labor.....

Figures if it costs as much as an airplane to buy, it'll cost proportionally as much to maintain.

I wonder how much an oil change would cost on a Veyron SS...we already know a set of tires will run you $30,000

They don't use oil. They use ground up baby flesh.

If one is concerned about the cost of maintenance, than this car is not for you.

Peeps that buy these types of cars could care less about the cost to maintain them.

Services for that car are for those who don't care about the money.
Crazy prices because their probally is not alot of technicians qualified to work on that car at all MB services places also parts and labor is always also a killer on rare cars.
Most likely their is only a couple of places you could go to get it done.
I would'nt dought they have pick up/delivery service for it as well.

Okay guys, I'm aware that it's an expensive car, and that that's par for the course. I never said, "Oh that's bullshit, 10k is way too much! I bet the rich owners bitch!"

Instead, what I'm wondering is how the 10k LEGITIMATELY breaks down. I'd love to see a receipt for one of those lol.

I know/knew a local guy since high school that ended up with an SLR along with his many Ferraris. I called him Corvette Boy because in highschool he had a brand new C4. Made it big in the real estate business. I beat on every car he bought starting with his Vette in highschool. When he got the SLR he was confident and we had a race set up but he got busted for some kind of fraud and lost everything.

I remember talking to him outside of a bar and him saying that no one from the Mercedes dealer could work on it or no one local could do the first service. They literally flew a guy in from Germany to do the work. He also said at the first service the German guy re-flashes the ECU for full power. According to him they came with less than advertised power until the first service was done. I've never researched it but he had no reason to lie. We were standing there looking at the car while talking. I was drinking a bit and it was a lot of years ago so the memory is a little hazy. The guy's name is David Crisp, there may be info on his car out there.

That's what I thinking.

$10K for an oil change sounds like they're shipping the cars back to McLaren in Woking.

I used to have a sheet that broke down the maintenance for a 5.0 Gallardo & 6.2 Murc. I'll see if I can find it for you; it's interesting & similar to SLR.
