105k Service Question..............
I'm looking for a good and fair dealer or repair shop near me in the East Bay of Nor. Cal. A local dealer wants $2,500.00 for the 105K service. That includes the timing belt, water pump, valve adjustments, etc. Yikes!
I have found another dealer that charges less, although still too high.
Anyone know of an alternative, such as an Independant Acura Repair Shop that you would recommend in this area??
Thank you!

i don't know your model year and model of your ride but whoever give you this estimate. is about 2 grand to high.
they are one of a couple options:
#1. they don't wanna do it.
#2. they are backed up to beat hell with work so they are giving stupid high quotes on shit off warrenty in hope folks go elsewhere to reduce workload
usually with a 105k service shouldn't take more than 4-5 hours.
you could take that in there on a saturday morning and be out by the time by the time they close.

What are you driving?
It's supposedly about $1100 for the 105K service on a Honda/Acura V6 at the dealership; an independent should be less. The water pump is replaced as a preventative measure because the front cover is off to do the timing belt, etc.
I think the 4 cylinders are about $600 with the water pump at an independent- I don't remember what mine cost a long time ago.
:shakehead Not in California for a Honda/Acura V6, although maybe with a 4 cylinder without the water pump.

So because you got wholesale pricing, you're claiming that everyone else is overpaying even though almost none of us have access to service and parts at that pricing? You == Epic Fail.
In other news, my wife can cook indian food which means we only have to pay for the price of groceries so all of you idiots are overpaying for Indian food.

All,
The $2,500.00 estimate is from an Acura dealership. It is for an '03 MDX. The 105K service for an MDX requires valve adjustments, timing belt and water pump, along with spark plugs, tranny fluid change, etc, etc.
I did call another local Acura dealership and also 2 local Honda dealers as the Honda Pilot has the same chassis. They were all cheaper than the original estimate by $400-$500 less. Getting better, but still seems excessive.
I'd like to find an independant local shop in the East Bay to begin using and would appreciate a name of one if you have had great service and would recommend them?
Thanks again for all the responses!

Try Art's Automotive in Berkeley, CA. I've heard very good things about them.
My dad used to use Precision Auto Repair in Pleasanton, CA, when he had his Honda, but we haven't been there in years.

I'd shop around more. Try to find a shop that works on only Honda/Acura cars. They are usually techs that worked for dealerships and started their own business and cost a lot less while still using OEM parts. If it's too much at one time break the services down.
-Timing belt/waterpump.
-Plugs.
-Valve Adjustment.
