07' Saab 9-3 Aero...Your Thoughts?
Turbo X is AWD, and is goes 0-60 under 6 seconds un-modded.
If you wish to read up more on it, here is official car&driver saab page. http://www.caranddriver.com/blog/labels/Saab.html
I think you illustrate exactly type of people I'm talking about in earlier posts.

I stand corrected. How much does one of those cost?
You might want to look up some info before you say stuff.
The power/weight ratio of the SAAB Aero is 11lbs/hp your superduper Mazda is 13lbs/hp. The torque in your car is 280, in the SAAB its 262. If your car didn't weigh so much (because of that AWD) you might have been able to win in a race. But because it does, you'd lose.

Holy Shit!Pricing starts at $42,510 for the X sedan, add $800 for the SportCombi. The few add-ons, such as a $540 Cold Weather package, or $2150 for a navigation system, can take the car over $45,000. Of course this is moot if there aren’t any new ones left to buy, so you may have to wait for the press fleet cars to hit the second-hand market in the middle of 2009.
I payed less than half that for my car....

I'll take the MS6 thank you. Saab is not unlike Jeep, the Mini and to some degree VW: They have a loyal following but most will opt for the alternatives. ...and at its price level (new), there is no way I would get one over its BMW, Infiniti or Lexus competition.
Funny sidenote: On my flight on Continental airlines last week, I was reading an article about the new Turbo X in their inflight mag and nearly

As to price point, I understand what you mean. Why buy something like Saab when you can get Bmw for "same price". To me it sounds more like a trend and prestige chasing. The thinking here seems to be: "If I get something for 35k, it better be something other revere as good, and prestigious". I can certainly understand that image is important to some people, and I'm not implying you are one of them. But it's worth noting that it can be true.
Second, base Saabs start at around 28k. And a local dealer here offers extra 2k off whatever price you negotiate on KBB trade in if it's a Saab. BMWs are almost certainly be at the very least 33k with very similar features. (I don't know what kind of deals BMW offers now, so it might not be precise).
Turbo X runs for about 40-46k. And is currently top of the line Saab 9-3 you can get. Is it worth that much? I guess to to each their own. But many dealerships don't even have them in stock as they are sold out.
As to value over time loss, I definitely agree with some. Saabs do depreciate faster than BMWs, MBs and Audis. But way I see it, cars are not an investment. If you plan to constantly buy and sell, BMW is a better pick, or even better - Honda Civic.
But on the other hand, value loss translates to great price deals on used Saabs. You can get a Saab 2007 with only 15k miles on it for under 20k. Good keeper car.
Turbo X will probably maintain value much better though since it's a limited edition. But who knows.

Mazda is a mazda. It's a good car. But being that, doesn't make a Saab a bad one because it's cheaper. It goes beyond spec techs and price. Each car handles differently and appeals to different people for different reasons. I just hope people research things more before making assumptions though.
Dude, give it up, your car is nice, I came reeeeeeal close to buying one, but you have waaayyy to much fanboi going on here. "my car is the best because I bought one"
The Mazda is nice for a lot of things but it is the best at NOTHING. For any category you want to pick, speed, price, gas mileage, reliability, whatever, I can find a car that beats it. Your car excels at mediocrity, hurray for you.
We get it, you like your car, that dosn't mean you should shit on everything that's not your car. I would have expected you to be a little more openminded.

My dad had a '93 9000 Aero that fell apart around the engine. Two clutches, one transmission, climate control, radio (x4), CD player (x3), sunroof leaked, could never get all the bulbs in the 3rd brake light to work together, and it rattled like a motherfucker.
But let me tell you...I remember the first time I got in that car and drove it like it was supposed to be driven. Holy mother of God. It was the most fun I'd ever had.
Trade-offs, man. That's all it is.

So when ya comin' down so we can run-em?
I wish you would have picked up on I was being my usual sarcastic self. But yes...I am a fanboi...I have a paid off car that can and will hang on with the best of them. Even a 42k Saab. But they aren't the same class of car we know already.
So when ya comin' down so we can run-em?

So when ya comin' down so we can run-em?

yea I shoulda known better
. I got all caught up in all the posts of people saying how the reliability sucks when it really dosn't. The car is actually pretty competative in it's class and makes a terrific used car because of the huge depreciation. There are some cars I really don't "get" (scion xB) but I don't use made up things to not like about them, I just dont like them.
Well, I owned a Volvo, and it was Swedish (before they sold out to Ford), and it didn't break............................................. ..........................
Much

It was one of the most reliable cars I ever owned.
Actually, I think with SAAB, it's a matter of their quality control at the plant. Some are good, some aren't. Me, well, where I live, I think it would cost me two arms, a testicle, and a molar for any maintenance to be performed. I actually like their designs, how they look "different", quirky, etc... But I live in a place where if it's domestic, its only expensive. Imports are absolutely INSANE to maintain.

I will be the first to admit that I have spent zero time in a Saab (and the extent of my knowledge of them is limited to what is published) but, I am not too interested in their products nonetheless. Probably the fact that reasonably equipped models have been historically priced similar to the BMW 3 series only to be worth less than a similarly aged Accord in less than five years contributes to my unfavorable view of Saab.
Admittedly, I am strongly biased in favor of products from the Japanese big three with an admiration of BMW.
Disclaimer: The above is expressly my opinion to which some may agree or disagree.
There is only one export out of Sweden I like. They are called hot, 6 foot blondes.
I have never liked Saabs. Most of the people I know that have them hates them after a couple months.
