TQ > MPG
99+ are 260hp and run low 14's with a good driver. He'll probably get you by a car length or so off the line, you'll pull back even by90mph, and then it just depends how much balls you both have. If you want a better chance at winning go from a roll.

The Mustang GT is around a 5.3/14.0 car, more or less. Like the previous poster said, if you take him from a dead stop he'll probably have you by a car length or two. If you go from a roll at a good point where you could hit VTEC easily (25-35 mph comes to mind) then you'll have a chance. Good luck and be safe.

hrmm..maybe I should pass that one up. I didn't think GT's were that quick...I thought they were just big clunkers with a big engine. Still I'm worried about the stick he's got...My auto feels weak when you get on it you can feel it slip as it goes through the gears under hard gas. Any ideas as to what my car puts out power wise...02-TLS w/ comptech cat back, comptech icebox, comptech headers. My car feels much stronger in the 60+ range rather than the 0-60 range.

my cousin had a 2002 Mustang GT conv., 5sp with intake and exhaust. I raced him from 0 to 70 and he had half a car length on me.
I have a '99 TL with I/Type-S TB/H/cat-back/pulley.

5.3 0-60 is very generous. more like 5.8 0-60 for the 5spd 260HP 4.6L V8. Also is RWD of course and has equal torque 260lb/ft. Your car has a HP advantage of course, probably 30HP so you can make up for the fact he has a manual if you shift righht is SS mode. Your car with those mods should be running high 5's 0-60. I bet you could beat him going 0-100mph. But it will be very close. This I believe is a true drivers race. Go for it win or lose who cares but you won't get toasted.
