So my wife comes home the other night raving about the new 325 a lawyer at her work just picked up. She couldn't believe how nice it was inside and out and even commented on how it has as much space as my TSX does had and how nice it drove.

She knows how much I like the new 3 series so I was very

The current 330ci (225HP) does not use the same engine as the 330i sedan (255HP). Pricing will be affected, but I don't think it would be too big of a hit since BMW's have good residuals. Who knows. Did the E46's value take a nose dive when the E90s came out?

I've never even owned an Acura and I post here, hah. I post where I post because I like the boards I post on. e90post is ok, but yes there are a lot of annoying people there (mostly kids). Definitely like it here better; who cars what car you have - talking cars is talking cars.

They did handle it nicely, so while their may be issues, they'll be addressed. I guess that's part of the bmw owner experience...

I'm not sure (which is why I asked), but as you said the residuals are nice... I would think that with every new bodystyle the prior one would be likely to take a hit.

I think for the money, the 335 is the cats meow, it's just that in my stage in life, I can't really justify buying a $45K car... Heck, I nearly shit a brick when I finalized the paperwork on my CLS... (around 32 OTD). As much as I like the looks and performance of the 335, I really don't want to get back into payments.

The e46's did not take a hit on resale when the e90 were released.

It's much prettier in person. Anyway, my testdrive is tomorrow morning at 11am. Performance BMW in chapel hill, nc. In a weird way, i'm kind of nervous, I want to like it because i've been trying to buy a new car for 10 months now, but in a way, I just dont think it'll capture my heart the way my TL does. As weird as it sounds, there's just something edgy about that type-s that I just dont feel in new cars... is it just me?

How did it go? I personally found the 335i much "edgier" than my G35; maybe it was the 19" run flats or the almost stupid hige powerband but I've had two very fun drives in it now (one auto one manual).

Unless the new G35 really impresses me (and it very well could), I'll be forking over the extra $$$ for a European Delivery 335i somtime next year. I like the turbo setup.

Saw a new 3 coupe (328 black) at the dealer today. I'm so relieved cause I thought the styling was gonna be killer from the photos, but it's not. Now I won;t have to consider this car anymore.
I hear it looks worse in black tho. THe styling did not wow me at all, and the interior (dash mainly) are still ugly.
I like the engineering and handling of the BMW but for the price, a coupe has got to look better. It pulls a lot more from the sedan styling than I thought it would.
I'm sure it'll be a big seller as BMW is popular, but for the prices I just don't get it.
I didn't see one BMW that didn't look kinda ugly.
It looks great in photos like the grey one above, but the black one I saw had all the ugly 3 sedan shapes on it.

Most dealers seem to be getting the 328 coupe with the ugly stock wheels.
I know the sport package wheels makes the car look 10x better.

BMW came 16 years late to a party originally thrown by the Nissan 300Z.

Perhaps your forgetting the 2002 tii? Probably one of the first turbo sports cars.

Oh, I know BMW has made turbos before...just saying that the spec sheet looks similar to the older Z. This coupe just looks fat in the flanks to me, not digging the long rear overhang and the weight.

Which Nissan subsequently abandoned, at least in the US. Manufacturers change design philosophies all the time, so what is your point exactly? Is BMW not allowed to use turbos?

BMW has its problems but utilizing modern turbocharging technology isn't one of them. Ever increasing weight and spotty reliability are their main bogeys right now.

Even in that case BMW is still quite different. The hp numbers are similar, but if you look at the torque, the BMW delivers all 300 ft-lbs from 1400 RPM vs the Nissans 3600. Plus I think with variable vane turbines and direct injection, its something that hasn't been done before on a gas engine.
I'm just curious how all this new fangled technology is gonna hold up.

Er... ahem.. I uh, switched the order to an auto w/paddles. I've been out in the car 4 times now, and thr auto is as fast as the manual (or so close it's imperceptable). The manumatic mode will hold a grear, will not shift for you at high rpms, and is lightning quick.. so given Toronto traffic, and a wife, I went that route. Suck it!

The VG30DETT (Nissan Z32TT) and N54 (335i) are two C O M P L E T E L Y different beasts. Just referencing peak output does not do the N54 justice.

As mclaren indicated, the N54's power delivery is superior to that of the VG30DETT with 300lb-ft available from 1,400 rpm thru 5,000 rpm.

Stylingwise, . I do not think the rear profile is as tight as that of the E46 coupe. Then again, it looks like the E92 will have more "rear seat utility" than prior 3-series coupes.

BMW is trying to build better automatics since they realize that many of their customers can't drive stick but still want that sporty feeling.

Sad but true, my friend...with a slight correction:

...they realize that many of their American customers can't drive stick.

EDIT: Let's hope this doesn't become a habit.
