After dropping the better part of my savings into a VW Passat (tranny, head gasket, etc) I would like to get something a little more dependable and higher performance. The GF is starting as a kindergarden teacher and she wants something to get her to work on the i-580 safely. So we're looking for a first generation (1996-1998) TL and would also consider a first gen CL (1997-?). Geez, even an Accord would be okay . We live in Berkeley but our families are in Sonoma county, my brother is in San Diego, and we work in Oakland ... so anywhere near these locations would be the range we'd travel to check out cars.

I have about $6000 ready to spend but this must include repair costs and transfer costs/taxes. Prefer vehicles with under 140,000 and if over 110,000 miles prefer that the t-belt is already changed. Salvage title okay if you have receipts for repairs and discount your price accordingly.

Please let me know if you have something for sale that might fit the bill, I'd love to get back in a serious driver's seat.
