That's a -1 for every dollar that he owes me. Here's a quick overview:

I purchased a Canon 20D camera from him that he was selling in the BM at the end of August. He was a week late in shipping it and didn't even have the decency to notify me or respond to my emails/PMs when I asked him what the status was.

When I finally did receive the camera, the box was all banged up, he didn't ship 2 or 3 items that he said he would, the lense had no caps on in and was barely wrapped in some very small bubble wrap of only 1 layer. The camera was probably initially wrapped in the same single layer of small bubble wrap but it had some undone during shipping. There was no more packing material inside the box so the camera and lense were just getting tossed around inside it.

At this point I was not about to keep the camera as who knows what damage could have occured due to poor packaging. I sent the camera back to him after he finally responded to my attempts at communication. I had to get Ron A involved in this whole ordeal several times to get CL Platano to even respond to me.

I shipped the camera back and CL said that he was going through rough times and said he couldn't pay me right away. I grew up poor so I understand hard times so I was willing to work with him. I only asked for an update about every 2+ weeks apart. Then before I knew it the time frame to dispute had passed on paypal. That's what I get for being nice. CL has completely stopped responding to myself and also to Ron's last attempt to contact him over PM.

I have sent several emails since then, the latest one this month and he never responds.

I kept being reassured that this person was a long time and well respected member of this forum. His actions with this sale speak otherwise. He has shown a complete lack of responsibility, honesty, and integrity with this situation.

I would give him a -1000000 if I could but a -450 will suffice. If anyone sees this that knows him, please have him contact me.

I have all the PMs and emails to back this up.

Edit by Admin Ron A: I am familiar with this situation and checked it out thoroughly. CL Platano fell on some hard times and was supposed to sell the camera and return the money to Buda but then all conversation ceased and we haven't heard from him in a long time.

I sympathize with his situation, and he was an old and well respected member here, so he should have made some attempt to return the money, even a little bit at a time.

I have awarded negative feedback -1 for this transaction.
