its version 1.7....ive only heard bad things actually about the upgraded ones because there is a limit to how much power the radars put out....my 1.7 works great and im happy with it, haha....i'll take pics later, im about to go get drunk now

Bottom Line..... Best radar detector ever made. I've had them since 1998.

Not only are they the best, but they hold their value. Look on ebay.

I just sold a V1 that I had for six years (the unit here is only two years old, at the most) I sold my yr '2000 model V1 for $280.00 two months ago.
JetBlackAcuraCl could easily get more $$ than 250 for the newer model.

Also the comments on any software issues is wrong. Apparently from someone that doesnt own one. Haven't heard or experiencedd any "power issue" with the new unit. It is scary accurate.
I drove around for four days with my older "chunky" ('2000 [v1.7] model) V1 and the one I bought in July ('2006 [v1.8]) both in my windsheild at the same time.

I was facinated how BOTH units went off exactly at the same time every time. Remember one had the 1.7 and one had 1.8, six years dif in age.

Based on my personal test (with both the new V1.8 vs my older 1.7 in my windshield), Valentine has mostly improved the new unit by adding the POP mode and the JUNK mode.

You can tell the older units ( not that thats bad) by the larger case and the laser eye visible underneath the rear antenna. A chunkier case.

No, I don't work for the company, No, I havent had a speeding ticket since I' owned a V1, and Yes I speed. Everywhere.

Just dont place every Ounce of trust into ANY radar detector. All they have to do is drive up on you while their radar is off and.........................................

I also drove about 350 mile from Cape canaveral to Maimi FLA with my Older V1 next to a fairly new Escort detector with some friends.......... All I have to say is that the dude that HAD the escort ...Ended up buying my old V1. No Shit.

Useing two radar detectors next to each other at the sametime has been known to significantly reduce the ability of one or both detectors to perform to their maximum capabilities. Just a FYI.

How? Radar detectors search for signal frequencies and do not modify the signal. How does that affect the other detector?

At the same time it's searching for sigal it releases it's own signals that can affect other detectors. That's why there are Radar detector detectors, which detect radar detectors. If not you can always go to radardetector.net and ask the people there.
Sorry for the thread hijack!

The V1 & Escort are shielded to prevent this. It may hold true with cheap ones that leak K & KA bands & set other good detectors off. I've tested side by side also & they were NOT interfering with each other. Don't believe eveything you read.
