i'm new on here but been involved with the Legend community (.com originally, now mostly forums.acuralegend.org) for quite a few years now. you can check my iTrader ratings on there if you want some references.

Would this benefit a type 1 at all?

yeah, it's common to upgrade Type I intakes to a Type II. the overall intake flow is much better, which generally results in higher power in the top end without sacrificing much in the low end, and the cost is generally pretty low for the benefits you get. plus it bolts right up, though if you're getting into it that far and your car has a lot of miles, it's worth replacing the gaskets, injector O-rings, and considering having the injectors cleaned while you have it apart.
