FS: UniChip (Custom Tuned)
I've decided to step up to the S/C so I will no longer need my UniChip. The UniChip is a "piggyback" ECU controler with a complete "Plug and Play" wiring harness. It makes additional power by leaning out the air/fuel mixture and making slight advances in ignition timing.
My UniChip recieved a custom tune from a local UniChip distributor a week after I recieved the product. This custom tune is very similar to what UniChip has done to revise the map for those users who have had problems (i.e., too lean). The custom tune added in 35% fuel to the air/fuel mixture. This resulted in a nice gain in the horsepower and torque curves,
The UniChip cost me $608 when it was new. The custom tune cost me $135.
I am selling my UniChip for $400 + shipping. The UniChip is still being used and it will continue to stay in use until I have a buyer.
Although the dyno only shows 5 hp and 4.5 lbs/ft gain at the PEAK, there is a greater gain lower through the powerband (i.e. 4000rpm). The car has never had a check engine light due to the UniChip, nor have I ever had any other drivetrain problems related to the Unichip.
First one to call "dibbs" and sends payment gets the UniChip. The price is $400 firm plus shipping. I've only had the UniChip for a few months, it provided nice gains and I feel $400 is a fair price considering what I have invested (not even including the dynos). No low ballers please.

hey steve, is this something I could install myself? or do I need it installed by somebody? and if so, how much would that install run me?
btw, you personally haven't had any problems with it correct? I'm assuming it's been tuned for your set-up (I/H/E?) Since I've got I/H, it should be the same, no?

It will take you 10-15 minutes to install. You unplug the first 3 harnesses from the stock ECU. Then you plug in the the UniChip harnesses into the stock ECU. Lastly you plug in the stock ECU harness into the UniChip. Done.
Exhaust won't make a big enough difference to need a change in the chip.

man I'm so close to callin 'dibbs' lol..
thing is, I've read a good amount of the UniChip thread and have read the horror stories. I'm not the person to go spend money on the dyno, I don't have money to deal with problems in sending it back getting re-tuned or what not, and yadda yadda yadda. Basically, I'm scared of something bad going wrong, because it seems something always happens to me whenever I buy something for the car. What to do...
It still runs on 91 gas correct?
p.s. sorry for blabbering in this post...I just don't know what to do

steve, can I call dibbs for a day and I'll let you know by tomorrow night? I just want to think about it for a day. I'm highly leaning towards getting it. I'm also thinkin about gettin the Mugen cooling mods, and installing em both then going to do a few dyno runs?
btw, would you mind like PM'n me and going over a fwe things of it with me? like the maps and stuff like that? I'd appreciate it.

LOL... well considering only 1 person ever has run faster than me... what makes you so sure "mid 13s" are possible?
With the supercharger and high boost pulley you only run mid 13s.
Remember how much our car weighs and it is FWD.

Okay... since there is little interest here...
I'm looking to get $250 for it. If I get $250 plus the sale of my UR pulleys that will give me enough for new tires which I need pretty bad.
$250 is a steal of a price. The wiring harness alone probably costs over $300.

Hey Mrsteve, just curious was this chip custom tuned before or after you put on the S/C?
I might be interested for a pick up.
