Thumbs up CLOSED! FS: 06 TL headlights + ZKW projectors (no 56k)

Perfect opportunity for people looking to do a ZKW swap on their TL headlights. These headlights are from 06 model and will fit the 04-05 model with some alteration but i wouldnt recommend it. The ballast in the 04-05 model headlights is smaller than the one found on the 06 hence the mounting holes are at different location. Headlights are in pristine condition, with no pits or scratches on the front lens. The projectors are the highly sought after ZKW clear lens projectors from an 04 BMW 330 XI. I have done this swap for ChicoOG last year and to date there is only one other member I know that has this swap on his TL, that would be Kennedy.
Here is kennedy's thread.

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...5&page=1&pp=25

I have parted from headlight modifying (at least for money) for now and only do it as a hobby every now and then so please dont ask me to do the swap for you. I'd be happy to answer any questions if you have any via PM or email ONLY.

Price

ZKW projectors $325.00
06 TL headlights $375.00

plus Actual shipping and paypal fees.

I am only slightly flexible on price, you can buy both for $650 and save $50 or buy either of the items separate but if you know the ZKWs and the TL headlights then you know that the price is fair.

will the ZKW/TL projector fit on the 04=05 headlights? Also are they modded in any other way besides the lense. Also is the cutoff positioned right or do we have to adjust it?

^^ The ZKW is a direct drop in for the TL projectors so it can be done to all the 3G TLs. Its done to achieve a sharper cut off with more intense light towards the outside. Here are a few pictures of how the projector performs with the ZKW clear lens. The swap means taking out the old factory lens from your TL projector and swapping it with a clear one from the ZKW lens, you dont change the TL projector.

I am willing to part it if someone is just interested in the headlights or zkws alone.

to do the lens swap do you have to take apart the housing or does the projector bolt up to the back of the housing? i have an 05 TL with the housings cleared/blacked

^^ YOu would have to take the assembly apart like you would in case of clearing/blacked headlights. Once opened the projectors come off by unscrewing 4 screws, the lens holder comes off with a flat head screw driver, you take the old one out drop this one in, rotate the clear lens so the notch on it points downwards (at 6 o clock) and then you put everything back together.

I'd be more than willing to answer any questions regarding the swap. If you can open and reseal your headlights then this shouldnt take you any more than 5 extra minutes.

Big bump for JnC,

Great guy, knows his his stuff. A lot of the motivation to do my headlight mod came from the support provided by him on hidplanet.

More than fair prices... I paid the same for my ZKWs and a second set of headlights to mod.

JnC, as a suggestion to expedite sale... Clearing headlights is a nobrainer task at this point, no?

If you could find a committed buyer who would be interested and pay in advance... Go ahead and install the ZKWs and clear/blackout the 06 headlighs... sell them PnP ready to go for $700. I KNOW there a re a lot of folks out there that would rather buy this stuff already modded and ready to install.

Just a though FWIW.

Good luck.

Thanks for the kind words guys, headlights are pretty much sold at this point, I will update the thread later if/when payment comes through.

Kennedy: The headlights are in pristine condition and so are the projectors, I know i could have easily done the swap but seeing that my other "do-it and sell-it" project didnt go so well ( I am talking about the 2G retrofitted headlights) I refrained from that idea.

Here are some videos and pictures of TL projector with zkw clear lens.

That's a shame.

Hey 3G TLers out there... put $700 on the table. best investment you could make for a new set of bomb ass headlights. ZKW is the only way to go. Get them cleared to yuor specifications too.

Also remember, you can resale YOUR OEM headlights for about $350... So you'll make 1/2 your investment back...

No brainer to me.

Are the ZKW's sold as well? I have an 04 and would kill for a set of clears. If I bought the ZKW's, would you be able to put them into a set of 04's for me? And possibly clear them too?

Lights are pretty much sold, i am waiting payment on them which is promised to make it here by the evening today, ZKWs are still for sale. As far as the swap is considered, i'd have to say no for the moment I am just too caught up in work these days to consider something like that LMK if you still want them

Get em Dan...
If you haven't found a place to clear your headights, find one... You have to these when you split the headlight cover. As JnC says, it's an extra 5 minutes after that.

or sac up and DIY.

I dont want to start a whole new debate here but if you know the ZKW and the knock offs then there is a reason why they are called knock offs and the huge price difference. The knock offs are certainly an upgrade from stock TL lenses but they are no ZKWs .

BTW imitation is the sincerest form of flattery , my opinion would certainly be biased towards ZKWs since I am using them in my own car and I have a pair here for sale compared to a person who is selling/using the knock offs .
