This is in fact the turbo that was in the car in that video, great find. I forgot I had posted that. The rattling turned out to be related to the VGT actuator, the connecting bar at the bottom was a bit loosened out as documented by other owners in another thread, and likely is a part of the problem I described below.
It's essentially a much less severe example of the issue shown in this thread near the bottom by another owner:

There are some remedies described on that thread, and another owner has a more jury-rigged solution with a piece of metal cable (I can't seem to find this thread at the moment, sorry). But as mentioned, I didn't have time to diagnose and try things, as it's my wife's car and I needed to get her back on the road pronto.
This is of course why I'm offering the turbo for as cheap as I am. It is certainly not perfect. But as far as I can tell with limited time to diagnose the specifics, the problem it seems is limited to this actuator.
