Thanks guys!
Wildlife and nature are certainly the subjects nearest and dearest to my heart. I'm happy if that shows a bit.

I spent the last few days wandering around (mostly) Vail Valley in CO. I've got a ton to sort through, but here's a quick teaser. There is still a TON of snow up on the mountain. We couldn't even get to the upper lake on this hike because we didn't bring any snow gear.
Anyway...Spruce Creek

Love the horse shots! It's great seeing them in the larger size. I wouldn't mind having a crack at shooting equestrian sometime. The hike looks like fun too, though bummer about the snow. You do get around, don't you?

My first day I got a nice tour of Vail mountain in the evening.
Looking toward Mount of the Holy Cross in the distance on the left.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/moxiephotos/2614996768/" title="Valley by wndrlst, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3012/2614996768_65b00bdb30_b.jpg" width="1024" height="410" alt="Valley" /></a>
The town of Avon in the distance. The light in the trees is what appeals to me about this one. Sun dogs and all.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/moxiephotos/2614287291/" title="Avon by wndrlst, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3280/2614287291_305c7abf29_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="Avon" /></a>
Two Elk Lodge all packed up for the off-season. I loved the patterns made by the chairs contrasting with the hard lines of the window architecture and the pillars.

These are from the Spruce Creek Trail - the hike up to the Mohawk lakes that we didn't get to finish because of all the snow remaining on the mountain. We were able to reach the lower lake, but not the upper.

This isn't actually one of the lakes - just a small-ish pool that fills from run-off. It was sheltered from the wind, though, and offered some nice reflections. I just wish I'd had a more interesting sky that day.

Lots more to come from this hike, but it's past my bedtime...

woozy, you got some nice shots! thanks for sharing. I like that one with the chairs, followed by the 2nd to last reflection, and then the light through the trees pic - my fav part about that pic is how deep it goes! I mean, into the background. Enjoyed the others as well but those were the standouts for me.

More from the same hike...
A rather crooked old mining cabin ruin. I especially like the funky old metal chimney.

Another attempt at HDR...kind of pitiful compared to some I've seen around here, but I'm a work in progress...
If anyone would like the files to play with to show me what can be made of this, I'd be interested to see the results. Along the lines of srika's suggestion a while back to have everyone pp the same raw file. Could be interesting...
