Timelapse
I've been putzing around with timelapse a little bit as of late. Here is a really little one I was able to steal during a break from shooting a short.
I've got another one which was more of a test from a couple months ago. I just need to get it online in a better res.
Also, have two new photo sets in car talk taken during my hiatus.
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400" height="225" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377" classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=3fcb847ce9&photo_id=4517318450&hd_ default=false"></param> <param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377"></param> <param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=3fcb847ce9&photo_id=4517318450&hd_ default=false" height="225" width="400"></embed></object>

Big Block go VROOOM!
Cool stuff Sarlacc!
Out of curiosity, do you happen to remember the intervals you were using on these? I tried an in-car timelapse with one of my point & shoot cameras but the minimum five second interval on the camera produced results that were too choppy looking.

The mountain is 1 frame every 2 seconds. playback at 24fps
The car is 1 frame every 4 seconds playback at 10fps.
The car was a test, I really want to redo it with better rigging/framing and it needs to be at 1 frame every 2 seconds. It looks good up until I punch it, any part where I go over 60mph just gets lost. There were some cool twisties and highway moves near the end that you just never see.

What was the rig used to mount the camera?
I don't think the 40D has the capability to do time lapse intervals...
Touche Nikon, touche.

With their TC-80N3 you can
But there's one that's pretty much universal called the Pclix LT.
After shooting timelapses last week on my friend's Sony Z1U I've been wanting to find a way to keep shooting them. And the finished montages will probably make their way onto the Internet this summer . . .

Haha, this is an ironic little crack at Nikon users, since that accessory is for Canon!

And the Z1U is giant a POS.

I think Time lapse movies are most effective when it comes to watching that happens slooooowly happen at a much faster pace. I like the cloud one you first posted.
I recall you did another one that I liked too - wasn't it construction of a set or something?
But this one - there's just stuff flying all over the place.
I dunno - doesn't really work for me. (nice music though)

Hmm. I kind of think the subject matter is a bit too chaotic for a good time lapse movie.

Remember this was a test. I dont think it was 100% successful either, but when I get the chance to make a go at another one, you might (hopefully) change you mind. Going back and shooting it again at one frame every 2 sec and 24fps should smooth things out a bit and make things less chaotic.

Did you watch on this small embedded window in this thread or did you want the larger HD version where you can actually see more?

Cool stuff sarlacc =) i did just long exposure in the car with almost the same setup rigging it in the back seat. I should use my magic arm to hold it to the head rest I like that Idea.
my question is what are you using to make it into a video afterwards? any pointers on something you read or anything?

Anyway....QT 7 > Open Image Sequence > choose frame rate = Viola.
When I import my pictures in LR I always rename them sequentially...and that is exactly how QT 7 compiles a timelapse/animation.
