Sorry if this thread was already made, but I wanted to get everyone's opinion on the SL1. I was planning on getting the t5i but the sl1 seems to fit my needs and budget better. This would be my first DSLR. Main purposes would be for car photography of course, family photos, and casual use. Nothing super crazy like pictures on the top of Mount Everest type stuff. I would be purchasing a wide angle lenses of some sort in the near future. What do you guys think?

I don't think anybody here as held one in their hands. With that said, get it in your hands first. This is the smallest dSLR on the market and could be too small to you to handle. I know the Rebel series are too small for me and this is smaller than those.

 

I have, and it IS indeed tiny. That may or may not appeal to some people.
