Of course, the really crazy part:

The funny part, the camera still operates just fine. The heart, brain, and soul is all operating just fine. All the menu commands, the light meter, and the LCD review work just fine. So may be, may be Canon it isn't dead yet, but definitely on life support at the moment!

The background is black because it was black. There just wasn't any light shining on it.

The only light sources in the frame are the flash behind iron and the red light on the handle. I used a bounce card to reflect light from the one flash onto the nose of the iron to give it a little more shape.
