Sony A580 ordered

Ordered yesterday, should be here early next week. Can't wait. I've been wanting to get back into photography and with my old Minolta AF lenses still in my camera bag, I figured this camera would be a great way to re-use them.

Anyone else have this camera?

I don't have the a580... I have the a550 and a900. If you still have some Minolta lenses, they should work (unless they're REALLY old manual focus lenses... then I don't know).

The a580 is a great camera... it's gotten a lot of good reviews. IMO, it's better than the a55 that got a bunch of awards last year. I think the a55 only got the awards because it's a new technology (translucent mirror design).

Sony shooters get image stabilization ON the bodies, which means you get I.S. with ALL the lenses, yes even the old Minolta lenses.

The a580 has some cool features like built-in HDR (but it's limited, so don't expect it to do anything like the HDR programs). Pano mode, 7 frames per second, FULL HD.

It does quite well in low lighting shooting (high ISO's)

It's probably the last Sony Alpha with OVF, because supposedly Sony is going ALL EVF (electronic view finder) here on out. I personally wasn't impressed with the a33/a55's EVF when I got to play with them... but the next gen SLT's EVF might all have OLED screens which would be a lot better.

I wouldn't mind having this camera (upgrading from the a550), but I'm waiting to see how the a77 is.

Have fun shooting!
