17 mile drive I think thats around there somewhere. http://static.flickr.com/27/92879072_565cd224b7.jpg allot of lookout points to take pictures from.

Balboa park is kinda neat in san diego, heck all of downtown sandiego by the water front.

^ that's pretty far north from LA.

If you like architecture check out the Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA, and The Getty

There are too many to name. What do you want to take pictures of? Architechture? Ocean Vistas? Cars? People?

Try Laguna Beach, lots of people, lots of picturesque coves. Old town Orange for old style houses, the Mission Inn in Riverside (I think that should be close to you).

If you like to shoot natural scenery, you can go to Huntington Library.
If you like to shoot structures, go to downtown LA. That's where they shoot a lot of movies and car commercials.
If you want to shoot beach things and sunset, go to Santa Monica, but I recommend Laguna beach for a cleaner beach.
If you like to shoot weird stuff, go to Hollywood Blvd

geez ive been really lazy, i really should photograph more of downtown LA, ive been around that area only a handful of times (went to the LA convention center, and the walt disney concert hall, and japantown) but i didnt photograph there

anyways this summer since ill have a pretty easy going first summer session im definately going to make a trip out to these places.

i still want to visit the la brea tar pits. and the getty and huntington library, and the queen mary.

ohh yea im going to hit up the mission inn area when i get back to riverside.

whare else in LA/socal should i visit?

ohh yea what about the Los Angeles County Arboretum?

geez i guess there really are alot of places to visit in socal.

im really only reviving this so i can make a checklist of places to visit.

hmm... what about the natural history museum of los angeles and iguess USC and the surrounding areas?

is that coliseum nearby the place where they had the olympics?

and what is that one place where you can look at stars? would that be an interesting place to shoot?

griffith park observetory? I've never been there.

My aunt volunteers at the huntington. It's a really nice place for plants. Same with the Arboretum and Descanso Gardens.

I think as far as LA goes, most people I know do a lot of indoor shooting. Clubs, Poolhalls, bars, etc. I don't think of LA as being the best place for landscapes etc. But I guess i'm spoiled living out here now.

Maybe west LA, hit up santa monica, and hollywood, beverly hills, chinese theater. You'll look like an asian tourist, but who cares.
i just did a quick search and I like these pictures of LA http://www.skylightweb.com/losangeles/
