Anyone ever hear of or see one of these before?

I am currently finishing up a gig with a special fx house that is working on the new Knight Rider pilot/series. I was out of town with this week shooting driving plates for the pilot.
On the last day the DP, who had also been taking high res stills with a Mark 2 and a 5D to use as additional plate, whips out this little bad boy.
Its German designed/made and it was setup to be controlled with a little ipaq over bluetooth.
What it does/was setup to do is takes a series of shots to be stitched together to make a giant sphere. It pops off 3 bracketed exposures at each setting (for HDR.) The whole time it took for the process to take all the shots was about 15 minutes I think.
The fx house actually uses this to create a an entire virtual environment. Its awesome.
