Rebel XTi at Costco - 2 lens kit

What do you guys think of this bundle I saw at the local Costco:

Rebel XTi camera body
17-55mm EF-S lens
20-300mm (I think that was it) EF lens
Canon 1GB CF
Canon camera bag
$940

I'm guessing these are low end lenses and this price isn't really worth it.

Let me know what you all think....or should I hold out for a discounted 30D (since 40D is out).

Also, this would be my first digital SLR.

are you sure its the 17-55 lens? or is it the 18-55, if its the 17-55lens then there is only one lens that is 17-55 and that is about a 1k lens.

You can get a 30D for about $1000, check amazon.com or bhphoto.com. It was about $1200 the beginning of this year.

Yeah, the EF-S 17-55 alone is worth around $1000-1200. If these numbers are legit, this is a kick ass deal. I'd jump on it in a hearbeat, if only to turn around and sell the gear at a tidy profit.

I'm wondering if he didn't mean the EF-S 18-55 instead. Either way, that's a hell of a deal.

Why is the 17-55 lens so much more than the 18-55?

Constant aperture, much sharper, IS feature.. Other words, it is a much better lens.

For the reasons hrj said. It's arguably Canon's best non-L lens. Constant aperture lenses always cost more than their variable aperture counterparts due to requiring a lot more glass.

I think it was the 18-55 then....whatever is the cheapo lens that comes with the standard Rebel kit.

I would save the money and put it towards better lenses.

I saw this as well this weekend. I do believe it was the 18-55 lens.
