Purchasing used lens..... how important is production date?
How important is production date to you when you folks are considering a used lens? I was considering a lens recently, but datecode indicated it was a 2006 model. Thoughts..... ?

Scale 1 to 10 a five, it can help determine the price you are willing to pay. But for physical reasons, it doesn't add up to like miles on a car.
Knowing how old the lens is could help you on price knowing what they sold for back then. BUT I've seen lenses that have date codes three years old being sold by the biggest online seller, B&H.

I meant to say being sold NEW at B&H and there's nothing wrong with, but they sat on a shelf, then sent to B&H to sell.
