Price trends?

I am planning on buying a Canon 40D for myself in the near future, and wanted to know if there were any consistent pricing trends for camera gear with respect to the holidays?

Do prices drop before Christmas to entice people to buy?

Do prices drop after Christmas to boost sales?

Anyone seen any trends in camera prices before?

Thanks.

The 40D is their newest affordable DSLR, you're not really going to find any deals. I think the only deals might be when you purchase one with a Canon printer. Some rebates are out there.

^ +1.

The only time I see price drops is when they come out with newer models. Which reminds me I need an upgrade for my Nikon

Looks like Amazon has dropped the price about $75 on the 40D.

yea its for body only, it is shareable but the program only limits 1 SLR camera purchase

I'm just a little weary that i wont have a warranty card, but it says the packing slip will act as proof of purchase/warranty.

and its going to take 4-6 weeks for delivery

actually its 1026 for body only
and 1188 w/ 28-135 IS lens

Canon doesn't want the warranty card for warranty work, they want to see the sales receipt.

FYI, Amazon is currently selling the 40D with 28-135IS for $1403 shipped.

The only downside is that they are anticipating a 3-5 week delay until shipment.
