Thanks! I don't have any pictures, but I put together a little diagram to help illustrate the setup:

Can you explain the dark field lighting? Very cool shot, BTW.

That's what I tried to illustrate in my diagram, just two posts up.

All you do is backlight the subject, but block the light in the field of view of the camera with a gobo. I used a second strobe to put a little light on the gobo so it wouldn't be pure black.

Lol! I haven't been hanging around here much lately and just saw the one post. Thanks for elaborating.

First try at HDR...

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jefford_e/2370672916/" title="Arizona desert "><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2087/2370672916_44ca12abc1_b.jpg" width="1024" height="680" alt="Arizona desert" /></a>

May have overdone it a little bit...

Thanks Dan.

I hope you don't mind, but I saw your " Cheese B&W" and wanted to use it in a photo I had. I've been having fun manipulating certain photos and when I saw yours I couldn't resist!

Yours

Yeah, it's not for everyone, but the "blown out" effect helps take out the flatness of a b&w night shot like this. I enjoy playing w/ it mainly and find it's a way to learn putting multiple effects together to achieve something totally different from what I started with. I don't have PS, maybe in the future, but for now I'm having fun w/ PSP, learning as I go.

I haven't told you and Jeff, but I dropped your camera, and I dropped his 70-200mm at the same time.

Oh well.
