Old School SLR Equipment Prices

Hey guys,

Anyone know what the resale price on some old SLR Equipment is? What I mean is, how much is this stuff worth on resale and where's the best place to sell it?

All early 80's stuff:

Nikon FE Body, Black
Nikkor 50 mm lens f/1.4
Nikkor 28 mm lens f/?? (need to check)
Nikkor 43 -86 mm f/3.5 zoom lens
Nikkor 80 -200 mm f/4 zoom lens
Nikon MD-12 Motor Drive
Various Hoyarex Filters.

Everything works, well cared for, etc. Normal scuffs from use. Have "case candy" for a lot of it.

If anyone here is interested, I'll put a BM thread.

Did some searching at Ebay for closed listsings and arrived at a price. Any other input appreciated to help get this priced right.

Use www.keh.com for pricing help, they have a lot of old stuff, and will buy it as well. I had Canon stuff this old a few years back, I found best to just donate to local HS, tax write off.

Appreciate the link.

I'm looking to generate some "free" cash.

I thought of doing that myself with my dads old Canon SLR that he gave me....until I saw what it was really worth. Free would have been the key word for what I could have got. It was worth it for me to keep it, and the memories of us using it

On that KEH link, the body and lenses alone are worth a few hundred to them.

I'm going to call them tomorrow and see how close their internet "preliminary" quote is.

No. I've got a 5-year old Coolpix point and shoot.

This stuff has been gathering dust for .... uhhh, .... 20 years? We've got another set too - FE2, 50mm, 80-200mm, flash, bag, etc. Also not used in YEARS.

When I graduated HS I was really into photograghy. Tried to get into the Army as a photographer. Anyway, I bought all this stuff when I was in the military and took loads and loads of pics. Sold a few.

When I got out, I won awards in a couple of small local contests and took pictures as a "stringer" for local papers.

Then I got married. Had to find a "real" job. No more money for my hobby. Then kids, new jobs, etc and this stuff just got left behind. Sad to say.

Nikkor 50mm, f/1.4, AIS. Manual Focus, original lens caps for both end, original spec/instruction sheet.

SN: 5204616

What's the deal with the Nikkor 50mm's? They go for a pretty good penny on Ebay.

Edit: oops. That info is for "my" 50mm. The "other" (i.e. with my wife's FE2) 50mm is the identical lens except SN: 5152086 and no spec/instruction sheet.

They do, the 1.2's are what people want, that's why I asked.

Why are they so sought after?

Even the f/1.4 are selling used on ebay, at the lower end, pretty near what I paid $30 years ago. At KEH, the used retail looks to be a about $50 or so over ebay.

Nikon doesn't make a current 1.2, so people are going after the old one's. I've almost bought one a few times. If I can find a good clean one for about $400, I'm jumping and that's the low end. I seen it for $699 online.

I would say kijiji and craigs list would be the best place to try and stuff the stuff.

I have a question. Someone mentioned if you have a Nikon with AF motor you can use these lenses. Do ALL older nikon mount lenses work on a D90? I was checking it out in a local camera shop and the salesguy mentioned that any lens made after 1990 will work (autofocus) on that body. I will be getting either the D90 or D95 when it is released and would like to pickup some older lenses if I can get a decent deal, including some of these maybe.

Not an expert so take this with a grain (errr, a pound would be better) of salt.

If I understand properly, these lenses (AI and AIS) will "work" (i.e. fit and function) and meter properly on newer equipment BUT they will NOT autofocus - they are still manual focus lenses.

Just finished shipping the last bit of this today. Grossed ~$401 (not including shipping which I did make a few dollars on); Netted after Paypal and Ebay Fees ~$344. And I under-priced the 50mm lens.

The KEH link helped a ton. Gave me a decent base line to work from.

Had it on Ebay BIN for $100 shipped.

It sold in like 3 minutes (ehh, maybe an hour).

Might've got another $50 or so, I think.

But overall, I'm pretty happy. Got a fair bit more than I expected by parting it all out.
